Responsibilities:
Ensure that MEDCO and Marion are top of mind
- Leads the communication and marketing initiatives of the organization, including the effective use and deployment of promotional materials, e-mail campaigns, newsletters, social media, and website.
- Leads the development, design, and management of the marketing strategy to promote development initiatives, events, resources, projects, and successes.
- Responsible for growing and successfully deploying the community and organizational brand through all external messaging and platforms.
- Coordinates with partners on workforce development strategies.
- Develops and manages an annual series of special events and business programming in support of MEDCO investor needs and MEDCO outcomes.
- Works with the President to identify, develop, and launch new programs that align with and drive organizational strategy.

Marketing and Communications:
Develop and implement an annual marketing budget
- Develop unique and consistent content creation through regular storytelling and promoting the great things happening in Marion.
- Create fresh and new materials portraying the sizzle in Marion for community and business development
- Publish an annual report that connects outcomes to MEDCO’s measurables
- Revamp and update the MEDCO website.
- Push stories on Behind the MEDCO Board Room on LinkedIn
- Organize Development Bus Tour and Breakfast Briefing marketing events
- Develop a library of quotes from business executives who had positive experiences in Marion
- Collaborate with the Marion Chamber of Commerce Business Connections publication
- Partner with the City of Marion for Marion Messenger articles
- Produce annual sponsorship plan and calendar
- Develop Message Board Scrolling Content Plan
- Generate Marion-based company stories for social media and newsletter Eblasts
- Produce a Business Voice Call leave behind sheet
- Create an HR Voice Call leave behind sheet
- Start Outlining Possible Plan for Newcomers Group – Similar to Distinctively Dubuque
- Submit for awards through various platforms to drive attention to Marion through IEDC, MAEDC, and PDI.
Workforce Development:
Cultivate our talent pipeline
- Scale Marion Student Built House with industry
- Introduce students to trade industries to establish career path opportunities
- Continue to strengthen the healthcare partnership with Mercy Hospital.
- Support Venture Academics by connecting teachers and students with projects as needed
- Extend programming to the potential workforce in smaller surrounding communities

- Lead and grow the HR Roundtable group
- Continue to expand the Human Resources Voice Call program
