Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Communications, the Graphic Design and Marketing Specialist is responsible for coordinating and maintaining a consistent brand and image for the Town of Flower Mound. This position performs a variety of complex tasks related to graphic design, visual communications, and written content for marketing and public communication materials.
- Supports the development and maintenance of a consistent brand identity for the Town.
- Assists Town departments with graphic design needs, including flyers, posters, invitations, brochures, report covers, presentations, social media graphics, and event or program logos while ensuring consistent use of the Town’s brand standards.
- Creates and produces the Town’s Annual Report, including complex graphic design, layout, and written content; assists with other reports and publications as needed.
- Creates and revises print and digital communication materials, including forms, reports, and social media graphics.
- Creates customizable templates for multiple purposes, including presentations and business cards.
- Writes copy for marketing and communication material, which may include social media, website content, utility bill inserts, e-newsletter, annual reports and publications, flyers, etc.
- Researches and recommends new ideas for strengthening our brand presence.
- Attends Town events and works evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Assists with public education campaigns for Town departments, elections, and Council initiatives; develops creative ideas and proposals; and may assist the Video team with video projects to include graphics or creative elements.
- Helps measure the effectiveness of media, social media, and other communication/marketing efforts to determine future needs.
- Adheres to the personnel, safety, and department policies and procedures.
- Assists other coworkers as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is required.
- One (1) year of experience in a related field is required.
- In lieu of required degree, five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a related field may be considered.
- Must have a valid state issued Driver's License and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to use programs as needed.
- Knowledge of Canva and related design platforms.
- Knowledge of social media and marketing.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Ability to communicate with others effectively while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work after-hours, evenings, and weekends, as necessary.
- Experience writing content for marketing or communications materials.
