Dress for Success® Houston (DFS Houston) seeks a compassionate storyteller for the Marketing and Communications Associate role to support our fundraising efforts through external/internal communication, marketing, and event support.
Marketing/Communications
· Manage agency social media outlets with an editorial calendar and active engagement plan.
· Maintain and update the look of the website and review analytics.
· Engaging storytelling in multiple mediums.
· Content creation for bi-monthly agency emails and DFS Houston bi-annual printed multi-paged newsletter in collaboration with the Development team.
· Scripting for program content, video messaging, and event presentations.
· Create and collaborate on digital and print media content for all campaign/event collateral.
· Proof agency materials for digital and print media.
· Create and execute online giving and voting campaigns, including social media graphics and film clips.
· Create and execute event and awareness campaigns. Examples: Black History Month, Women’s History Month, International Women’s Day, Women’s Health Month and Women’s Veteran’s Day.
· Maintain and update all branded material agency-wide to include email/announcement templates, letters, flyers, and member/sponsor benefits.
· Maintain branding guidelines agency-wide in collaboration with the Director of Development.
· Oversee social media requirements for grants and sponsorship commitments.
· Design/Create/Proof Board reports in collaboration with the Director of Development and President.
· Support monthly e-newsletter/marketing materials for WOW.
Public Relations
· Craft press releases for signature events, initiatives, and pitch features as applicable.
· Maintain media relations by promoting relevant content and providing social media mentions.
· Point of contact for media inquiries.
· Schedule and coordinate with photographers for special events.
· Schedule Proclamation with the City of Houston and corresponding requirements.
Development
· Assist and participate as a development team member for all major events.
· Promote community partnerships to achieve agency goals.
Qualifications
· Minimum of four years in non-profit or communications/marketing/public relations sectors preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree required.
· Proficient writing, copy, editing, and proofreading skills.
· Ability to create and develop new ideas and concepts for the agency.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, inquisitive to learn new software, applications, and platforms.
· Photography, CRM platform (SalesForce preferred), MailChimp, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Square Space skills are a plus.
· Graphic design skills or ability to work with a third-party designer to create concepts needed.
· Working knowledge of the printing processes, layouts, and mediums to collaborate with third-party printers.
· Ability to relate to diverse groups from different sectors, including corporate and social service agencies.
· Proficient knowledge of social media trends, website analysis, and use of social media scheduling.
· Energetic and welcoming personality, encouraging, positive, and professional demeanor.
· Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and results.
· Passion for the mission of Dress for Success Houston.
Work Environment
· Onsite, Full time (35 hours a week) Monday through Friday.
· Must be able to work evening and/or weekend events; approximately three per month.
