Position Summary:
The Economic Club of Washington, D.C., a premier forum for speakers, is seeking a full-time Communications and Digital Marketing Manager who will support all marketing and public relations outreach efforts of the organization, as well as develop content and execute digital media strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned strategist with creative public relations or communications experience, eager to assume substantial responsibility while working and learning from a high-performing staff at a high-profile organization. Excellent writing skills and interest or experience with serving as a point-of-contact to the media are required. Responsibilities Include:
- Developing strategies for effective marketing and communications.
- Write, design, and distribute the monthly newsletter.
- Development and production of the Annual Report.
- Maintain and update all marketing items, such as one pagers, brochures, and programs.
- Manage and regularly update aspects of the Economic Club’s website.
- Develop and implement strategies and content aimed at increasing awareness about the Economic Club across various platforms and social media accounts.
- Connect with members and other targeted groups via social media to maintain engagement.
- Manage the distribution of the Economic Club Podcast.
- Distribute public relations materials including press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, flyers, brochures and other materials as needed.
- Conduct media outreach to encourage coverage of activities & programs.
- Work collaboratively with the teams at events to ensure media needs are covered.
- Develop strong relationships and maximize opportunities with media.
- Prepare summaries with data points for Board and Committee presentations.
Qualifications/Desired Skills:
- Flexibility and ability to work both independently and as a member of an efficient team.
- Flexible schedule, early morning and evening hours will be required around events.
- Excellent written/verbal communication, proofreading and editing skills.
- Knowledge of social media and evaluation tools and platforms in the social media space.
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with media, community contacts and members.
- Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail oriented and ability to meet deadlines.
- Evidence of a high degree of ethical behavior, ensuring an ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Basic photography, graphic design, videography, and photo/audio editing skills.
- Experience using InDesign and Constant Contact (or similar email distribution services).
Education and Experience:
- BS or BA in public relations, communications or relevant field
- Marketing and/or media relations and communications experience: 2+ years
