Role Overview
Job Title: Copywriter and Social Media Strategist
Location: Anywhere with a good internet connection (we are fully remote)
About the Role:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about business / investing news, filled with creativity, and is results oriented. The ideal candidate for this role loves words, loves copywriting, and can strike a balance between witty, substantive, and persuasive without becoming “salesy.” You thrive in a deadline-driven environment and love writing for big audiences. Also critical: impeccable editorial judgment, excellent writing skills, and a deep understanding of business news and finance.
An integral part of the role will be interfacing with brand partners to communicate on copy direction, strategy, and results. You should be a natural collaborator who's comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders across editorial, growth, and analytics teams. Organizational and multitasking skills will be key to maintaining publishing workflows, calendars, and schedules.
We have an ambitious roadmap for expansion and our copywriter will be instrumental to our plans by launching new products, experimenting with new ideas and initiatives, and finding creative ways to meet our content goals. The role is editorial, strategic, and tactical. A bias to action and flexibility are a must.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for an energetic and experienced copywriter to play a dynamic role in our organization with two core responsibilities:
- Ad copywriting. Unlike traditional ads that detract from the experience, our native ad placements are deeply creative and additive to the reader experience. We are looking for someone passionate about writing high-performing ads for clients across finance / investing, consumer products, and software.
- Social media copywriting. Help amplify our journalism and perspective through social media. Key areas of focus will include Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Experience working in digital media, preferably in a publishing environment, is strongly preferred.
Requirements:
- Professional-level writing skills, the ability to write not just with voice and wit, but succinctly with perfect grammar and punctuation.
- Coordinating on the newsletter publication team with other members of the revenue team.
- Managing calendars and schedules across multiple accounts.
- Responsible for day-to-day posting for The Daily Upside’s social accounts.
- Writing tweets for Twitter.
- A drive to work independently and practice good time-management.
- A game-for-anything attitude, a can-do mindset, and the ability to thrive in collaborative environments.
