JOB SUMMARY: In this role, you will help sustain Mennel’s tradition of excellence established in 1886 as well as support our food safety programs and mission to reliably deliver superior quality, uniformity, and service. The purpose of this position is to help coordinate internal and external communication activities and support the day-to-day and strategic efforts of the department and the company as a whole.
PRIMARY WORK SHIFT:Part-time up to 28 hours a week. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Hours may vary, depending on workload. Based at the Corporate Headquarters in Fostoria, Ohio.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company as listed in Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and attend all required training sessions. Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit ready condition.
- Serves as a content creator across all communication mediums, such as the website, SharePoint employee portal, digital communication boards, web news releases, videos, infographics, social media campaigns, special projects, etc.
- Coordinates product promotion materials, such as flour and bakery mix brochures, product info sheets, white papers, print and online content, industry directory listings, trademarks, etc.
- Contributes to the social media editorial calendar and ensures cohesive distribution of content for both internal and external audiences.
- Assists with the optimization and entry of online content for SEO and algorithms.
- Supports data generation activities through analysis, research methods, and report compilation.
- Serves as a co-editor for the MenneLetter quarterly employee newsletter and monthly edition.
- Utilizes Canva graphic design platform to support the development of artwork and tactical marketing communication projects such as advertisements, sponsorship materials, etc.
- Assists with maintaining the companywide branding strategy, such as brand guidelines, photography/videography, brand tone, flyer templates, letterhead, business cards, signage, etc.
- Supports lead generation activities, email marketing, and tradeshow marketing tools, tactics, and campaigns, as needed.
- Assists with employee/customer appreciation and community outreach events and activities.
- Maintains a list of Mennel Merch inventory and assists with re-ordering needs.
- Provides marketing communications support to locations and departments.
- Responds to the global needs of the sales and marketing department.
- Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.
- A junior/senior level student or new graduate of a bachelor’s degree program in communications, journalism, marketing, advertising, or related field or equivalent experience within the industry. Associate’s degree in a relevant field will be considered for this role.
- Experience writing clear, accurate technical content using AP Style is required.
- Experience with storytelling, video editing, photography, graphic design, social media management tools, and communication planning is preferred.
- Experience with using machine learning (AI) to enhance marketing communications strategy.
- Proficient with computers and various Microsoft Office products (SharePoint, Teams).
- Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, etc.).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under time pressure and with problem-solving issues.
- Ability to work with a team and/or independently.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures and plans. Ability to write, complete checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Must use solid judgment when making decisions. Must have ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.
