WildChina is looking for a Social Media Specialist to join our English marketing team. This role sits at the intersection of storytelling, culture, and travel — shaping how China is seen and understood by a global audience.
You will be responsible for crafting narratives that go beyond surface-level travel content, presenting China with depth, nuance, and strong visual identity, while also driving measurable performance across our social channels. This is a hands-on role for someone who can both think creatively and execute.
Location
Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, or Huizhou (hybrid with three in-office days per week)
Position Type
Full-time (also open to strong freelance/agency candidates)
Salary
Subject to experience
What You’ll Do
- Create and publish thoughtful, visually strong social media content (posts, reels, short-form videos) that presents China to a global audience, working alongside our in-house graphic designer
- Develop concept and direct content, and collaborate with internal teams, freelancers, and creators to bring stories to life
- Manage day-to-day social media (planning, posting, basic community engagement) and maintain a consistent brand voice and image
- Own channel performance, including tracking key metrics (growth, engagement, conversions), and use insights to refine content strategy, audience targeting, and campaign direction
- Plan, execute, and optimize paid social campaigns with clear ROI KPIs
Who You Are
- A strong storyteller with a genuine interest in China, able to present its culture, landscapes, and contemporary life in an engaging and accessible way
- Visually sensitive, with a good eye for aesthetics and an understanding of how to bring content to life through direction and editing
- Comfortable collaborating with others — able to work across teams and with external creators to develop content
- Organized, self-driven, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Required Skills & Experience
- Fluent English (native or near-native level), with working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (HSK 4+) for internal communication, basic research, and content comprehension
- 3+ years’ experience in social media, content creation, and/or digital marketing
- Proven track record of managing and growing social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and WeChat), with the ability to show measurable results. Please note that this role is for our English-language social media channels, not Chinese-language ones, such as RedNote.
- Experience managing paid ad campaigns with clear ROI, using performance data to inform content and campaign decisions
- Experience working with/managing content creators
- Experience managing email marketing/newsletter accounts (ex. via Mailchimp or Hubspot)
- Ability to concept and direct video content, even when not shooting independently
- Intermediate video editing skills (CapCut, Premiere Pro, or similar)
- Familiarity with design tools (Canva, Adobe suite, or similar)
- Strong writing skills with attention to tone and detail
