Salary: Up to $50,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Position Overview
The Arkansas National Guard Foundation (ANGF) is seeking a highly qualified professional to serve as its Director of Military Operations, a senior leadership position responsible for integrating military alignment, operational execution, and program delivery across all Foundation mission areas.
This position serves as the Foundation’s principal military liaison and operational integrator, ensuring all programs and initiatives directly support the needs, culture, and operational realities of the Arkansas National Guard and the broader military community.
The Director of Military Operations plays a critical role in advancing the Foundation’s mission through execution of its six lines of effort while maintaining credibility, relevance, and measurable impact within the military ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Military Liaison & Representation
- Serve as the Foundation’s representative to Arkansas National Guard leadership, units, and military organizations
- Maintain persistent engagement with commanders, staff, and family readiness elements
- Representing ANGF at military ceremonies, briefings, and community events
- Ensure all engagements align with military customs, courtesies, and protocols
- Provide continuous feedback to the Executive Director on emerging needs, risks, and opportunities
Operational Execution of Programs
Lead planning, coordination, and execution across ANGF’s six lines of effort:
- Survivor Support Services
- Education, Scholarships, & Professional Development
- Medical and Dental Readiness
- Emergency Assistance (including Military Family Relief Trust Fund support)
- Youth Engagement and Recruitment
- Preservation of the Legacy of the Arkansas National Guard
Strategic Advising
- Advise the Executive Director and Board on military alignment and operational considerations
- Identify opportunities for partnerships with military units, commands, and affiliated organizations
- Translate military structure, policy, and culture into actionable insights for Foundation leadership
- Support long-term planning and mission expansion efforts
Communications & Engagement
- Oversee development of military-relevant communications and messaging
- Guide social media strategy targeting military audiences
- Ensure communications comply with OPSEC considerations and cultural sensitivities
- Promote Foundation programs, events, and impact stories within military networks
Program & Event Integration
- Lead coordination of military participation in Foundation events
- Facilitate involvement of units, color guards, speakers, and honorees
- Ensure events appropriately reflect military traditions and standards
- Support execution of major Foundation events, including scholarship presentations and fundraising initiatives
Reporting & Accountability
- Provide monthly operational reports to the Executive Director
- Develop and track metrics related to military engagement and program effectiveness
- Produce briefing materials for senior leadership engagements
- Deliver an annual operational assessment with recommendations for improvement
Key Deliverables
- Preparation of the Foundation’s Annual Report
- Development of a Quarterly Newsletter
- Execution of a military-focused communications and engagement plan
- Event execution plans with integrated military participation
- Program performance tracking across all six lines of effort
Qualifications
Required
- Demonstrated understanding of military structure, culture, and operations
- Proven leadership experience in operations, program management, or similar roles
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred
- Prior service in the Arkansas National Guard strongly preferred and will be a key consideration in candidate selection
- Experience working with nonprofit or military-affiliated organizations
- Background in public affairs, strategic communications, or stakeholder engagement
- Familiarity with Arkansas National Guard organizational structure, programs, and key stakeholders
Work Schedule & Compensation
- Up to 40 hours per week (negotiable based on candidate and mission requirements)
- Salary up to $50,000 annually, commensurate with experience
- Flexible schedule aligned to operational demands, including occasional evening and weekend events
