Job Summary Serve as communications expert and marketing director for all divisions of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. Provides leadership, implementation, coordination and administrative support of communication and marketing activities of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.’s mission.
Job Emphasis Works collaboratively with all divisions of the Chamber to keep membership informed of activities, opportunities and programs. Develops ad campaigns consistent with the mission of the organization, promotes the Chamber to the business community, acts as the liaison with the media, and holds direct responsibility for all communications of the Chamber and its divisions. This position also directs the strategic and tactical communication efforts of the Chamber brand by ensuring its integrity, while leveraging and optimizing it.
Evaluation: Annual performance evaluation is administered by the Operations Manager and CEO of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
Administration
- Work in tandem with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.’s team members to aid in execution of program of work where communications and marketing is concerned.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with media.
- Provide leadership, assistance, advice and support to Chamber CEO and all team members in developing the annual communications and marketing budget.
- Provide organizational support, recordkeeping and direction necessary to ensure the success of marketing programs of work for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and all its divisions.
- Provide appropriate volunteer recruitment, retention, motivation, management and development of any committee or taskforce related to communications by offering ideas, guidance and advice as appropriate.
- Be a pioneer and expert in communications and marketing as it relates to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and its divisions.
- Communicate in a timely, efficient manner to the CEO and staff, keeping all informed.
- Assist in day-to-day office execution, filing, organizing, database entry, invoicing, answering phones/inquiries, greet visitors, registration for programs of work throughout Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
Marketing & Communications
- Develop, manage and update the communication strategic plan.
- Lead in the development and administer the implementation of a comprehensive Chamber marketing plan.
- Responsible for the overall marketing of the Chamber as an organization and individual divisions.
- Coordinate press conferences, set interviews with media and coordinate all other media relations.
- Establish and enforce the divisions’ graphics and branding standards and policies across all collateral and marketing mediums.
- Create and edit videos for social media platforms and events.
- Maintain www.mscoastchamber.comwebsite. Ensure all information is accurate and current at all times.
- Maintain social media content calendar and platforms including but not limited to Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
- Directly responsible for writing, editing, managing production, meeting deadlines, and ensuring the quality of the e-newsletters including all division publications, Member Exchange, and Premium Promotion ads.
- Work directly with the division directors to ensure all marketing is timely and accurate.
- Work directly with Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. team members to create, implement, follow through and analyze program surveys in order to gauge effectiveness, value and efficiency to Chamber members.
- Coordinate and supervise event promotion and marketing via special flyers, calendar of events, newsletters, social media and press releases.
- Assist the CEO in maintaining a dialogue with the membership and the community to assist in direction and purpose of marketing platforms.
- Assist with development of membership and Chamber-image materials and publication necessary to attract, retain, and serve members.
- Develop and maintain positive member relations, continually selling the Chamber, its products and seeking to motivate and influence others on the positive attributes of Chamber involvement.
- Communicate regularly with all staff to ensure understanding of communications/marketing activities.
- Take, organize and use photos and videos at program of work events and activities.
- Manage, track, and maintain financial goals for the Premium Promotion and Member Exchange advertising program for Chamber members.
- Monitor and track e-newsletter distribution, website and social media analytics and monitor effectiveness.
Other Duties
- Present a professional image in representing the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
- Actively market the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with other tourism, civic and Chamber type organizations on the Coast and in Mississippi as directed.
- Responsible for keeping the staff of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. informed of all communications and marketing efforts.
- Maintain a high level of competency in all software used by the Chamber including but not limited to ChamberMaster, social media platforms, Canva, Adobe, Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms.
- In a timely manner, complete special projects as assigned by the directors and/or CEO, which support Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and its divisions’ missions, goals and objectives.
Education, Skills, Abilities, Experience & Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications or related field or the equivalent in acquired on-the-job experience.
- Strong communications and public relations skills coupled with the ability to influence others in a positive manner.
- Excellent writing, editing, public relations, presentation, public speaking and problem-solving skills, as well as managing multiple projects while meeting all deadlines. Additionally, a strong knowledge of publication layout, design, and graphics, and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with others and to present ideas effectively, verbally, and in writing.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work after and before office hours as needed and directed by the Operations Manager and CEO.
- Ability to interact seamlessly with executives.
- Some experience with meeting planning required.
- Ability to work with and manage volunteers.
- Must have reliable cell phone.
- Employee must have an automobile, valid driver’s license and liability insurance on the automobile that will insure against any loss or damage to life or property that may be caused by an automobile accident.
- Must be able to travel independently to numerous functions year round across the Gulf Coast.
- Experience leading and managing strategic initiatives in subject matter.
- Must be a critical thinker who has excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Needs to be able to work with a team.
