Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Director of Racket Sports, located in Santa Barbara County, CA. The Director of Racket Sports will oversee and manage the racket sports programs, including tennis and other related activities. Responsibilities include developing and leading programs and events, providing coaching for players of all skill levels, coordinating with staff to ensure smooth operations, maintaining facilities, and fostering a welcoming and engaging community for members. The role also involves organizing tournaments, building relationships with members, and contributing to the overall member experience.
Organize and direct all club racket sport activities, events, exhibitions, tournaments and lessons.
Salary: 75K Plus lessons commissions.
Job Tasks (Additional Responsibilities)
Plans and directs instructional programs.
Provides lessons and clinics for members and guests relating to the techniques and strategies of racket sports.
Organizes, administers and officiates at tournaments, exhibitions and inter- and intra-club social events.
Administers and enforce club racket sport policies and procedures regarding play on club courts.
Strings rackets and performs other light equipment repairs.
Coordinates maintenance, repair and cleaning of courts with grounds and maintenance departments.
Writes and edits all racket sport-related news for the club’s newsletter (includes photos when possible).
Select, train, supervise, schedule and evaluate the assistant professionals and other racket sport staff.
Manages the racket sport shop.
Establishes and implements an accurate inventory control system and reports results accordingly.
Transfer all charges from the racket sport shop to the accounting department.
Develop the budget for the racket sports profit center; take corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are met.
Ensure all club members and guests receive courteous, prompt and professional attention to all their racket sport needs.
Markets racket sport facilities for members and guests.
Develop a detailed annual calendar of racket sport activities and applicable promotion campaigns during the season.
Maintains a close working relationship with other club professionals.
Attend all staff and management meetings.
Maintains an accurate record of all lessons and clinics given; provides written reports monthly.
Inspects and maintains all physical areas constantly.
Represents the club in area professional racket sport activities and at state or national tennis events with approval from the club.
Assists food and beverage director, chef, banquet and catering manager to coordinate food and beverage service support for racket sport events.
Ensures that all employees consistently comply with club’s employee manual and with all applicable federal and state employment laws.
Is visibly present on the courts during peak periods of play.
Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Assistant General Manager.
