Ohio Magazine is seeking an Associate Editor to shape compelling stories about the people, places, food, culture and experiences that make Ohio unique. We’re looking for a strong writer and sharp editor who thrives in a fast-moving, digital-first environment and is excited to tell stories across platforms.
Responsibilities
- Write and edit stories for print and digital platforms
- Copy edit stories and departments for grammar, clarity, accuracy and AP style
- Develop digital-first story ideas with strong audience appeal
- Produce short-form video and social media content tied to editorial coverage
- Conduct interviews and report stories across Ohio
- Plan and execute newsletter content
- Assist with headline writing, web copy and SEO-friendly digital packaging
- Collaborate with editors, photographers and designers on multimedia storytelling
- Appear on camera for short videos and social content
Qualifications
- Strong reporting, writing and editing skills
- Excellent command of AP style and copy editing fundamentals
- Ability to write clean, engaging copy on deadline
- Experience producing digital and social-first content
- Comfort shooting on phone and/or appearing in short-form video content
- Familiarity with social media platforms and audience engagement
- Magazine, newspaper or digital media experience preferred
- Interest in Ohio travel, food, culture and lifestyle storytelling essential
