The Communications Manager reports directly to the Director of Membership Development and Marketing and works closely with the senior management team to ensure that the Club’s established brand and culture is effectively communicated, marketed, and supported both internally and externally.
The Communications Manager is responsible for maintaining the Club’s private portal website and Mobile App and all documents within those platforms. Equally important are the development and production of the Club’s weekly newsletter, press releases, and other internal and external written and digital communications. This position is also expected to share in the long-term vision of the Club and contribute to overall growth by offering tactical and innovative communications in the day-to-day operations consistent with established club policy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Writes, edits, and produces the weekly Ford Press newsletter and This Week from the Chef newsletter. Collects and submits all copy and photos for production on a timely basis; proofs contents for corrections and changes; responsible for design and layout of page format and email design.
- Meticulously supports and promotes the Club’s private portal website and new member onboarding site to include updates, changes, employee pages, event sign up, calendar access and club document access for members and staff.
- Oversees the updates to club governance documents including amenity updates, board information, rules and regulations, bylaws, membership and POA documents.
- Works with the Board of Directors and committee members to update annual changes in the board members and communicates those changes to the membership.
- Acts as a “go-to” for setting up and conducting Zoom meetings for the board and committees, when needed.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining the Ford Club Calendar. Works with all Directors and Managers to obtain event information, create events and flyers, and publishes events on the club calendar.
- Responsible for all pre and post marketing of all club events to members on portal and Ford app.
- At the direction of the Director Membership Development and Marketing, this position establishes and creates print material for all aspects of the Club, including but not limited to event flyers and brochures for each department.
- Responsible for photos and videos of all club events for the club newsletter, blog, and social media and all promotional materials.
- Point of contact for members with IT questions to access the Member portal and Ford App.
- Meets with all Directors quarterly to review and discuss any Departmental portal page changes. Makes updates, adds photos, staff changes and any other updates, as necessary.
- Create all new employee welcome videos and emails to introduce them to the membership at Ford.
- In coordination with the Director of Membership and Marketing – contributes, monitors, and reviews all social media content and updates to ensure continuity of messaging across all platforms.
- Also responsible for varied additional projects as directed.
- Participate in continuing education and community relations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multitask and adapt.
- Experience in hospitality (private club preferred), communications, marketing, customer service or membership associations.
- Engaging, articulate and detail oriented.
- Expert written and verbal communication skills; listens to others and effectively understands information.
- Competent in Zoom and webinar meeting planning and execution
- Proficient with English grammar and possesses skills in news-style writing, feature writing, copywriting, proofreading, and editing.

COMPUTER SKILLS
- Proficient in computer graphics software, including Canva, In-Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, and Adobe Acrobat
- Skilled in Microsoft office
- Software program specific to the job such as Clubessential Platform
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Hospitality, English or Communications preferred.
- Prior Private Club Industry and Club Essential experience a plus
- Two years of customer service experience required.
- Website / Social Media content management experience required.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Days, nights, weekends, and some holidays may be required.
- Most of the work is inside in an office environment, but also works outside in a broad range of weather conditions.
- Required to stand, sit for prolonged periods of time, walk, stoop, bend, stretch and reach. May be required to lift to 40 pounds. Vision must be correctable to read and write. Hearing must be sufficient to understand conversation in an office environment with a moderate noise level. Must have hand usage to operate a keyboard.
