Creciendo Juntos is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to provide visionary and strategic leadership to ensure our operations, programs, and fundraising efforts align with our new mission.
At the heart of this role is a deep commitment to collective power-building. We are looking for a leader who will collaborate with youth, staff, and board members to envision, build, and bring to life CJ’s new vision for a transformative youth organizing model.
OVERVIEW
- Location: Hybrid (must be within 1 hour driving distance of Charlottesville, VA)
- Schedule: Full-time; 40 hours per week M-F; occasional weekends and evenings. This position is currently grant-funded for up to two years.
- Salary range: $62,000 – $68,000
- Benefits: Benefits include health insurance, PTO, paid federal holidays, and hybrid work schedule. There will also be opportunities for professional development paid for by CJ, with prior approval from the Board.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Fundraising & Donor Engagement (40%)
- Lead fundraising efforts, including creating and executing an annual fundraising plan with the External Affairs Committee.
- Acknowledge donor contributions (thank-you notes) and maintain accurate donor tracking in QuickBooks.
- Research and identify new funding opportunities (grants and donors), manage applications and reporting, and coordinate site visits.
- Support in grant writing and fundraising as needed by providing context for grant proposals and potential donors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors through follow-up and stewardship.
- Draft and distribute newsletters; assess and migrate to improved newsletter software as needed.
Operations & Financial Management (25%)
- Manage the day-to-day operations of CJ, including:
- Handling administrative duties.
- Responding to mail and email communications.
- Keeping the office space clean, organized, and functional.
- Support the Internal Affairs Committee with compliance tasks, budgeting, financial reporting, and processing payments.
- Supervise future program coordinator (i.e., hiring, onboarding, and professional development).
- Oversee the maintenance of the website and social media
- Provide support to program coordinator in their supervision of volunteers and interns, if needed
Programming (25%)
- Administers grant-backed programming such as the Reshaping Futures grant
- Collaborate with the Board to implement an annual program plan and calendar.
- Evaluate program outcomes through surveys and other feedback mechanisms.
- Assist with EA Committee pilot a grassroots membership-based model by:
- Researching effective membership structures used by peer organizations.
- Developing a customized framework for CJ.
- Crafting clear messaging, benefits, and contribution tiers.
- Outlining an implementation plan and recruitment strategy.
- Assist with the recruitment and training of volunteers and interns to support programs as needed
Board Relations & Governance (10%)
- Work closely with the Board Chair to plan and prepare for board and committee meetings, including agendas, materials, and follow-up.
- Support the recruitment, orientation, development, and offboarding of board members
- Provide regular updates to the Board regarding organizational progress and outcomes.
- Attend board and staff meetings as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- At least 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, program management, or community organizing roles with increasing responsibility.
- Demonstrated commitment to youth power, and to racial, gender, economic, environmental, immigrant, and social justice.
- Proven ability to manage nonprofit operations, including budgeting, fundraising, and administrative systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft professional correspondence, newsletters, and reports.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to shifting needs.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual in Spanish/English (strongly preferred)
- Personal connection to the immigrant experience or Latinx identity, and ability to lead with empathy and cultural humility.
- Experience building grassroots movements or membership-based organizations.
- Familiarity with nonprofit board governance, financial reporting, and 501(c)(3) compliance.
- Comfortable using tools such as QuickBooks, Canva, social media platforms, newsletter software, and WordPress.
- Skilled in collaborative decision-making and power-sharing with youth, staff, board, and community members.
