The Role
The Junior Designer, Social at EBONY is an entrepreneurial visionary who lives and breathe culture and is passionate about EBONY’s legacy, its archives, and its commitment to delivering excellence to the global Black community. The Junior Designer, Social will be responsible for bringing social-first creative (static and motion) to life across EBONY’s platforms, helping to shape its look, feel and tone, while ensuring brand alignment across all platforms. This is a game-changing and exciting opportunity to reimagine one of the most well-known and beloved media brands in the world.
Responsibilities - Creative:
- Develop and design social-first creative (static and motion) for always-on social, partner social and editorial extensions.
- Execute the EBONY visual brand identity, while still maintaining the brand's core values and mission, by creating create successful, culturally relevant social-first content.
- Ideate and develop creative concepts and campaigns that will elevate the brand and inspire the current and next generation of EBONY readers.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop content that tells the brand story and supports marketing initiatives.
- Develop graphic templates and collateral to support social team.
- Has a strong creative point of view that can be translated across social media platforms and digital media (website, newsletter)
- Uphold a high standard of creative excellence in all brand materials.
- Ensure quality output within deadlines and budgets.
- Remain current on creative and design trends to continually evolve the brand.
- Performance & Excellence:
- Maintain and push ambitious standards for all design.
- Maintain adherence to brand guidelines, audience response, engagement rates, and customer feedback.
- Maintain consistency of brand messaging and visual identity across all touch points.
- Maintain awareness of current industry and technology standards, with a focus on social media and developing trends
- Qualifications:
- 1+ year(s) of hands-on creative experience in graphic design and motion graphics in the social and digital space, with a strong visual portfolio
- A history working with social-first content for brands.
- Strong understanding and experience across top social media platforms
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Must be able to work independently, as well as take direction from other departments.
- EBONY is an incredibly fast-paced and creatively demanding environment and creatives will have to balance many projects at once with tight deadlines and production schedules.
