Company Overview
Ajenda is a modern women’s health ecosystem founded by Dr. Jennifer Ashton, a double board-certified OB-GYN and obesity medicine physician with a Master’s degree in Nutrition and former Chief Medical Correspondent for ABC News. We translate evidence-based medicine into practical, real-world guidance through newsletters, digital programming, social content, and membership experiences. What began as a trusted newsletter has evolved into a rapidly growing media and wellness platform serving women navigating midlife, menopause, weight management, and whole-person health.
Role Overview
Ajenda is looking for a sharp, marketing-minded Newsletter Editor & Email Marketing Specialist to own and grow our two flagship newsletters: Today's Ajenda (weekly) and Off Duty with Dr. Jen (bi-monthly).
Dr. Jen is the primary writer and voice of both newsletters. This role is responsible for turning her writing and ideas into high-performing, beautifully produced, and strategically optimized newsletters — and for building the audience intelligence, segmentation, and lifecycle infrastructure that makes them increasingly effective over time.
You'll edit and produce world-class editorial content and think like a marketer: owning list health, subscriber segmentation, onboarding flows, and campaign strategy. This role sits at the center of Ajenda's growth engine, working closely with Dr. Jen, leadership, partnerships, social, product, and marketing teams to ensure the newsletters are not just great content, but one of the company's most important growth and business drivers.
What You'll Be Doing
Editorial Production
- Own end-to-end production of both newsletters, turning Dr. Jen's drafts into polished, on-brand sends.
- Edit, structure, and fact-check all content for clarity, quality, and scientific credibility.
- Build and format newsletters in our templates (Beehiiv, Klaviyo, or similar) and manage the full publishing workflow.
- Run editorial operations: calendars, trackers, partner coordination, and internal systems.
- Manage newsletter partner integrations, ensuring sponsored content is high quality and on-brand.
Email Marketing & Audience Development
- Own list segmentation strategy — build and maintain audience segments based on survey data, engagement behavior, topic interests, and subscriber lifecycle stage.
- Design, build, and optimize automated email flows, including welcome/onboarding sequences, re-engagement campaigns, and interest-based drip series.
- Develop and execute subscriber enrichment campaigns to gather first-party audience data (interests, demographics, topic preferences).
- Support lifecycle and marketing emails for program launches, promotions, paid subscription conversions, and key initiatives.
- Plan and run A/B tests on subject lines, send times, content formats, and CTAs — and translate results into ongoing optimizations.
- Monitor and report on key performance metrics (open rate, click rate, subscriber growth, churn, segment engagement) and use insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain list hygiene: manage suppression lists, sunset unengaged subscribers, and protect deliverability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Dr. Jen, design, product, social, and partnerships to ensure content and campaigns are cohesive across the ecosystem.
- Contribute to waitlist-building efforts for new initiatives (podcast, events, future products).
Ideal Background & Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in newsletter production, email marketing, or a combined editorial/marketing role at a media, DTC, or content-driven brand.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing audience segments, automated flows, and lifecycle campaigns — not just sending newsletters.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with a portfolio showing clear editorial voice and audience connection.
- Proficiency with newsletter and email marketing platforms (Beehiiv, Klaviyo, or similar) including their automation and segmentation capabilities.
- Analytical mindset: comfortable pulling performance data, identifying patterns, and making data-informed decisions independently.
- Experience running A/B tests and iterating based on results.
- Familiarity with list hygiene best practices and email deliverability fundamentals.
- Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented. You never miss a send.
- Experience with affiliate programs and brand/partner integrations in editorial or newsletter content.
- Passionate about health, wellness, and science-based storytelling.
- Comfortable in a fully remote, async-first environment.
Nice to have: background or strong interest in women's health, science, or wellness content.
Time Commitment
- Part-time, approximately 15–20 hours per week
- Fully remote
- Some weeks may be heavier around launches or special editions
