Role Description The beta reader / editor role at eMedNY is a full-time, on-site position located in Westfield, PA. In this role, the individual will review drafts of documents, reports, and communications to identify errors, inconsistencies, and unclear language before materials are finalized. Day-to-day tasks include reading and assessing content for clarity, structure, tone, and accuracy; suggesting edits and revisions; and ensuring that terminology and formatting align with organizational standards. The beta reader / editor will collaborate with authors and subject matter experts to refine content, provide constructive feedback, and maintain version control. This role also involves documenting changes, following style guides, and meeting deadlines for internal and external publications.
Qualifications
- Strong reading comprehension and editorial judgment to review complex documents and identify areas needing improvement.
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills, with the ability to edit for clarity, consistency, and tone.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in checking facts, terminology, and formatting against established guidelines.
- Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to writers and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with common word processing and document collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, PDF editors, shared drives).
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple review tasks and meet deadlines.
- Comfort working on-site in a structured environment and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field, or equivalent experience in editing or document review.
- Familiarity with healthcare, government, or technical documentation is beneficial but not required.
