As an Internal Communications Specialist, you will be a critical part of the Internal Communications team, supporting a wide variety of corporate, functional, and cultural initiatives. In this role, you're part inspiring storyteller, part investigative journalist, and part operational update coordination wizard – you will support the planning, development, and execution of internal communication strategies that keep teammates informed, inspired, and connected to the company’s mission, values, and priorities. As we ramp up our commercial flight operations, you will be on-the-ground support for all internal communications pertaining to our flight operations, ensuring teams across the company and in several geographic locations stay aligned and informed as we execute each mission. Support the company strategy by holding ourselves and one another accountable for getting the work done.
Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather information and create clear, inclusive, and actionable messages
- Draft internal communications for a variety of internal stakeholders to support corporate priority initiatives
- Maintain and update internal communication channels such as intranet pages, email platforms, digital signage, newsletters, etc.
- Act as primary communications partner for Virgin Galactic’s People Team communication needs, project managing and delivering one-off and program series content end-to-end
- Support internal communications needs surrounding flight operations as we ramp up and establish a regular cadence of spaceflight
- Help internal communications and broader communications team manage and track departmental efforts
- Plan and execute employee engagement activities, town halls, and internal events, including creating materials and coordinating logistics
- Help identify new opportunities, tools, and approaches to enhance communications effectiveness and strengthen organizational storytelling
- Ensure consistency of voice, tone, and messaging across all internal touchpoints
- Work collaboratively to achieve goals and/or complete assigned tasks
Required Skills And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate communications or business setting, preferably internal communications

- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong copywriting ability for both feature stories and operational updates
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/tasks with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy while working under tight deadlines
- Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with and support HR, brand and marketing, and other business teams
- Comfortable working with leaders of all levels and navigating sensitive or confidential information
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Experience in publishing content on SharePoint
- Strong ability to work on the visual layout of content and familiarity with digital and video means of communication
- Writing samples required, preferably a variation of content types (features, operational updates, etc.) to showcase full set of skills
- Demonstrate willingness to adjust thinking and behavior.
- Ability to communicate in a manner that is timely, respectful, and open to other ideas
Preferred Skills And Experience
- Eye for graphic design to produce visuals to accompany articles or for internal screens. Experience with Adobe preferred
- Experience in writing for a variety of different audiences is also desired, including creative writing skills, blogging, and vlogging
- Experience with photo and video-editing software
The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $81,650.00–$124,600.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
