Principal's Report
Thank you for a wonderful term
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students, staff, families and the wider St Patrick's community for a wonderful Term 2. It has been a term full of learning as well as many other wonderful community building experiences. We are so proud of the progress that our students have made, and we are grateful to our wonderful staff and families who nurture their progress.
NAIDOC Week
This week is NAIDOC Week which is celebrated all around Australia. We shared our special Acknowledgement of Country video at our Monday Assembly and our older First Nations Students shared some information about NAIDOC Week and the special Celebrations that we would be having later in the Week.
Today, Thursday 9 July, we were lucky enough to have Djuker Hart, an Aboriginal Knowledge Sharer, visit our school. We started off the day with a Smoking Ceremony where Djuker introduced himself to our whole school community and shared Acknowledgement of Country with us. Students then walked through the eucalyptus smoke from the smoking ceremony that Djuker had initiated for the first time in our fire pit within our new Yarning Circle. Throughout the day class groups then had the opportunity to work with Djuker to participate in activities and learn about First Nations Heritage and Culture. We thank Djuker for being with us and for sharing his knowledge and years of experience. We also thank Ms Pegus for organising the day and for her work throughout the year as our First Nations Key Teacher - we have many more exciting projects on the way.

For five decades, NAIDOC Week has celebrated the voices of our communities — steady, unapologetic, and proud. Each year, its themes have called for truth, celebrated culture, honoured resistance, and reminded the nation of who we are.
Fifty Years of Deadly marks a milestone. It’s a tribute to the people who built this movement. The Elders who stood firm, the organisers who made space, the artists who turned resistance into expression, and the communities who keep showing up, year after year.
NAIDOC has always been more than a week — it’s a platform, a protest, a celebration, and a statement of survival.
This moment is about looking back at the stories, the marches, the languages, the art, the leadership. At the strength it took to get here. It’s about recognising how far we’ve come, not by chance, but because generations of people refused to be silenced.
It’s also about the here and now, who we are today. Grounded in culture. Strong in our identity. Leading change across every field, from health and education to media, business, and the arts. We’re telling our own stories, in our own way, on our own terms.
And it’s about the future. The next 50 years. The young ones growing up proud. The return of language. The return to Country. The fight for justice continuing with new tools, new voices, and the same fire.
Fifty Years of Deadly is a marker, not just of time passed, but of the momentum still building. It’s proof of what our people build when culture leads and community comes first. NAIDOC belongs to mob. It always has.
We honour what came before by continuing the work.
This is our story. This is our celebration. This is our future.

Have a lovely break - We look forward to seeing you in Term 3
I hope that our students and families have a wonderful two week break over the holidays. A reminder that students return on Tuesday 28 July as Monday 27 July is a student free day. Mrs. Ann Jak will be Acting Principal for the first week of Term 3 and will be supported by Mrs. Catherine Dunn, our Religious Education Leader, who will be on site for the full week. I thank them for stepping up and know that our community will support them. Mrs Aylott, Mrs Marshall and I will be back at the start of Week 2 in Term 3.

NAIDOC Week
Today, our students took part in a special NAIDOC Week program, celebrating and learning about Aboriginal culture, history and traditions. The day began with a whole-school Smoking Ceremony in our school garden, providing a meaningful opportunity for students and staff to come together in reflection and learning.
Throughout the day, students participated in a range of engaging cultural workshops led by Knowledge Sharer Djuker Hart and a guest presenter. Students in Years 3–6 explored Tasmania's tribal regions, local flora and fauna, and bush tucker, while also learning about pyrography and Indigenous design. Our Prep–Year 2 students enjoyed a variety of age-appropriate cultural and creative activities designed to deepen their understanding and appreciation of First Nations cultures.
The day provided valuable opportunities for students to connect with Aboriginal knowledge holders, gain insight into rich cultural traditions, and celebrate the diversity and strength of First Nations peoples. We thank our presenters for sharing their knowledge and helping make this year's NAIDOC Week celebrations such a memorable and enriching experience for our students.

Jump Rope For Heart
Jump Rope for Heart kicks off in week 1 of term 3 at St Patrick's!
Jump Rope for Heart is the Heart Foundation's primary school skipping challenge that helps kids move more, have fun, and raise funds for life-saving research and programs. This year, we've got a huge goal for our student Heart Heroes at St Patrick's to raise $4000 for the Heart Foundation.

Students will receive further information about this in our first HPE lesson of term 3.
Our school's fundraising period will be the first 3 weeks of term 3. Students will be skipping during some HPE lessons during this time as well as having the opportunity to complete skipping challenges at home. During this time, you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause.
We will hold our school Jump Off Day on Thursday August 13th (during PE lessons), which will mark the end of the program and is a chance for everyone to skip and show off their new skills.
