Sweeney Merrigan Law seeks a versatile, energetic, and creative marketing professional to accelerate our development even further.
At Sweeney Merrigan, one of Boston’s leading personal injury law firms, we pride ourselves on giving our clients only the highest quality of service, care, and professionalism as we fight to get them the compensation they deserve. Our office is a low-ego environment where we seek to have one another’s backs and strive for excellence as a group.
Qualifications:
To be successful, you’ll need to have the basic set of skills today’s marketers need, plus a few extras. We want a candidate with roughly 3-5 years experience. Our major marketing strategies are managed by teams we trust, but in order for you to work with those teams, you’ll need to come in with a solid grasp of the tactics they’re using and why. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with the following:
Google PPC
Google Local Services Ads
On-page and off-page SEO fundamentals
Social media marketing (TikTok/Linkedin/Facebook/X/Youtube)
Social media PPC
Email marketing
Graphic design (canva, photoshop, etc)
Direct mail marketing
Database management
Microsoft Excel
Expectations:
Marketing Management: Under the supervision of the Office Manager and Managing Partners, you will learn the ins and outs of our entire digital marketing operation. You’ll build and maintain relationships with our outside marketing partners, keep a watchful eye on our overall performance, and keep those teams accountable to our agreed-upon standards. In the first 3 months, you’ll be expected to have a complete grasp of our marketing and be aggressively searching out new growth avenues.
Social Media Marketing: Right now, we are not implementing any social media marketing. Within the first 2 months of starting with us, you’ll create a posting strategy, set up a calendar, and produce high quality social media content that captures our audience’s attention (that audience will include attorneys, former clients, current clients, and potential clients).
Email Marketing: Within 3 months of arriving at Sweeney Merrigan, you’ll have an email marketing calendar set up, and emails going out at regular intervals. The first step will be to clean up our database and segment it by audience category. We want your creative input into just how segmented it should be! Then you’ll begin producing email content tailored to each audience, and sent out on an appropriately regular basis.
Charitable Giving: We want to grow our presence in the community, and participate in charitable giving to a worthy cause. 6 months into your time at Sweeney Merrigan, you’ll have sourced, vetted, and launched our first philanthropic campaign in the Boston area.
Direct Mail Marketing: Our partner law firms, former clients, and potential new clients need to hear from us, and even in today’s digital world this can often be most successfully accomplished through the postal system. You’ll curate our contact lists, and manage the regular distribution of mailers throughout your first few months. We want to see mail going out for events such as major holidays, and to announce big changes or special opportunities for our referrers.
Relationship Building: Looking beyond our current referring partners, we want to expand our relationships with other law firms, individual attorneys, and new practice areas within personal injury. Once you’ve hit the 6 month mark with us, you’ll be ready to begin seeking out legal professionals in the Boston area, scheduling meetings and conversations with them to test the waters of a potentially profitable business relationship.
Leadership: We see this role beginning as an assistant to the office manager and managing partners, but potentially developing over time into a leadership role within the firm with responsibility for major marketing initiatives and possibly a full team. To succeed, you'll need to approach this role with the attitude of an owner, and take it upon yourself to seek out opportunities to make an impact in our marketing.
Personality and Culture
We’re looking for the ideal team player: someone who is humble, hungry for success in their role, and exhibits “people smarts”. You’ll need to be friendly and outgoing, able to make an instant connection, and have a natural empathy for each of our audiences: How will they respond to this social media post? What will they think when they see this content in a newsletter? Our basic digital marketing systems are already well in hand: we need someone who can take initiative, think beyond what we’re currently doing, and implement new strategies both on- and off-line.
If this is you, please reach out! We’re excited to hear from you.
