IBT Media, a global business media company operating out of New York City, is hiring a Head of Newsletters to develop the company’s newsletter strategy across its portfolio of digital publications.
Job Overview:
Working with editors, reporters/writers, and product, the Head of Newsletters will create a newsletter production strategy across the company’s portfolio of digital media publications to grow and serve each publication’s audience.
Responsibilities:
- Audience Development and Subscriber Retention: Increase newsletter subscriptions, develop subscriber retention strategy, and maintain subscriber retention rates.
- Newsletter Strategy: Developing the number of newsletter subscribers per brand while developing the audience and business. Increase traffic to each of the company’s digital publications.
- Product Ideation: Pitch story ideas and initiatives to Editorial teams while partnering with Product and Technology teams to implement strategies for new and existing newsletter products.
- Collaboration and Communication: Partner with Newsroom and Editorial teams to understand each brand’s specific needs, identity, and audience. Advise teams across Audience Development, News, Product, and Technology departments of successful newsletter production strategies.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity and proficiency with content management systems (CMS) and search engine optimization (SEO) best practices.
- Competitor Analysis: Monitor and analyze competitor newsletter strategies and approaches to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Newsletter Production: Help editorial with Newsletter production, collaborating with editorial teams across the company to highlight the stories of the day, monitor breaking news, and develop partnerships to amplify the company’s newsletter audience reach.
- Analytics Reporting: Utilize tools like Google Analytics and Google Trends to track and report on key performance metrics, including audience demographics, providing actionable insights for continuous audience development.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of newsletter production experience in a newsroom or digital media environment, with a successful track record of successful newsletters strategy implementation for a media publication or news organization.
- In-depth knowledge of newsletter best practices in news and digital media industry trends.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field preferred.
