Evening Post Books, the book publishing division of Evening Post Publishing , is seeking a marketing intern for the summer term. The paid intern is expected to be in the office in downtown Charleston 15-20 hours per week between June and July, with the option to extend through August. Scheduling time within EPB office hours is flexible. Candidates should be enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a four-year college or university, and focusing their studies on marketing, communications, or a related field. Reporting to the managing editor, the goal of the marketing intern is the work alongside the editorial team to increase brand awareness through the usage of digital platforms such as social media, the website, and our newsletter. As a result of working as a marketing intern, the student will have the opportunity to acquire and further develop their communication skills, time management abilities, and creativity in a professional environment through a book publishing lens.
An Ideal Candidate Will
- Possess strong written and verbal skills
- Operate as a creative thinker with a ‘no project too big or too small’ mindset
- Have experience in InDesign, Canva, social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) and analytics
- Be familiar with the Microsoft Suite, namely Outlook, calendar, and SharePoint
- Be hyper-organized, with a keen eye for project/time management, prioritization, and execution
- Be comfortable working and managing tasks independently and as part of a team
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Scheduling, developing, creating, and posting social media content
- Managing the EPB content calendar
- Pitching and creating web content (blogs) and monthly newsletters
- Monitoring social media platforms and analytics, and engaging with followers
- Drafting press releases for new titles and collaborating with the managing editor on book launches
Physical Demands
- Long periods of sitting
- Repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movement (while operating a computer)
- Occasional bending, stooping, and lifting (15-30 pounds)
- Eye-hand coordination (typing)
- Extended periods of reading fine print on a screen
