The Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA) is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Events and Communications Assistant to join our team for a full-time position. This position offers exclusive hands-on experience in events and communications. NVBIA plans and executes 45+ small- and large-scale social events yearly with 25 to 600 attendees.

NVBIA is a trade association, formed to create a positive economic and political climate for the building industry, so it may effectively meet the demand for affordable, attractive, safe, well-planned and environmentally sensitive residential and business communities.
Job Description:
· Assist the Director of Events and Communications with the planning process of all events;
· Take photos and videos at events to create live social media content;
· Assist with vendor timelines, directions and questions;
· Assist with pre-event and day-of logistics including set up and tear down of events;
· Assist with post-event wrap up;
· Write social media (LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram) content for NVBIA;
· Prepare weekly content calendar, NVBIA Insider Newsletter and E-blasts;
· Design and create engaging marketing collateral for events;
· Assist with other communication and marketing tasks;
· Assist in managing the Women in the Building Industry and Future Leaders Committees;
· Assist Chief Executive Officer with limited number of administrative assignments;
· Assist Membership Directory and recruitment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Event Management and/or Communication or equivalent;
· Background in communications and event planning;
· Strong attention to detail;
· Proficient in social media and content creation in Hootsuite;
· Proficient in Canva;
· Excellent writing skills, strong proofreading and/or copyediting skills would be beneficial;
· Ability to complete assignments with limited oversight;
· Self-starter with a strong work ethic and positive attitude;
· Proficient in Microsoft Office;
· Must be able to lift up to 30lbs occasionally.
