Role Description The Communications Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Afton, WY. This position is responsible for planning and executing internal and external communications that support Lower Valley Energy’s mission and services. Day-to-day tasks include developing and managing content for newsletters, website, social media, and member communications, as well as preparing press releases and coordinating media relations. The Communications Manager will collaborate with leadership and operational teams to communicate service updates, safety information, and community initiatives, and will help ensure consistent messaging across all channels. The role also involves monitoring communication effectiveness, supporting crisis or outage communications, and representing the cooperative’s brand in public-facing materials.
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting clear, accurate, and engaging content for varied audiences.
- Proficiency in digital and traditional communication channels, such as websites, social media platforms, email campaigns, newsletters, and print materials.
- Experience in public relations or media relations, including preparing press releases, coordinating interviews, and responding to media inquiries.
- Ability to plan and manage communication projects, including content calendars, campaign timelines, and coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Comfort working with technical or service-related information and translating it into accessible messaging for the public and cooperative members.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with teams across the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience in the utilities, energy, or cooperative sector is beneficial but not required.
