We are seeking an
Internal Communications Specialist to support the planning, development, and execution of site-level internal communications for a major manufacturing operation in Owensboro, KY. Embedded within the U.S. Operations Communications team, you will serve as a vital link between site leadership, plant operations, and frontline employees, translating complex business priorities into clear, engaging, and timely messaging. This is a 1-year contract role with a strong pathway for conversion to a full-time employee (FTE) for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Site Communications Strategy: Support the creation and execution of the Owensboro Operations communication plan, aligning factory priorities with broader U.S. Operations messaging.
- Content Creation & Copywriting: Draft, edit, and coordinate content for leadership messages, town halls, shift-level announcements, newsletters, employee recognition, and site campaigns.
- Channel Management & Message Cascading: Maintain site communication channels (digital signage, intranet, Microsoft Teams, email, bulletin boards) to ensure frontline and shift workers receive consistent, high-signal information.
- Event & Engagement Support: Assist with communication planning and logistics for site visits, leadership Q&As, town halls, recognition programs, and employee culture initiatives.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner directly with Factory Management, U.S. Operations Communications, and cross-functional site leads to gather input and coordinate message timing.
- EHS & Compliance Messaging: Reinforce vital site communications regarding Environment, Health, Safety (EHS), quality standards, and compliance.
- Tracking & Efficiency: Maintain the site editorial calendar and track the reach and effectiveness of internal campaigns.
Qualifications:
- 2 to 3 years of professional experience in communications, employee engagement, or corporate/administrative communications.
- Proven ability to translate complex business priorities into concise, employee-friendly copy.
- Comfortable interacting with plant leaders, cross-functional teams, and operational personnel with high judgment and discretion.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Prior experience supporting communications within a manufacturing, plant operations, supply chain, or frontline workforce environment.
- Experience supporting town halls, site visits, or large-scale employee engagement events.
- Familiarity with change management messaging, organizational culture campaigns, or digital channel management (intranet, digital signage, newsletters).
