Position Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Internal Communications Coordinator helps strengthen employee engagement and organizational alignment by connecting staff to AgeSpan's mission, culture, and priorities. This role supports the planning and execution of internal communications and employee engagement initiatives across the organization.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and collaborative communicator who can manage multiple projects, coordinate and manage a calendar of communications, create engaging content, and maintain clear, consistent communication across a variety of channels and audiences.
Essential duties:
- Draft, edit, and publish engaging content for the AgeSpan intranet and other internal communication channels
- Assist with maintaining internal communication calendars and coordinating timely delivery of organizational messaging
- Maintain intranet content and communication boards to ensure information is current, organized, and user-friendly. Monitor intranet engagement and communication effectiveness and recommend improvements based on audience feedback and participation.
- Support HR-related communications, including employee wellbeing newsletters, benefits and open enrollment materials, employee spotlights, and staff announcements
- In collaboration with the HR Department, prepare communications for major staff events and participate in event planning and production.
- Support communications related to recruitment, onboarding, retention, employee recognition programs, and crisis communications
- Assist with volunteer and intern recruitment and retention communications
- Partner with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and The Fund to support communication initiatives and employee engagement efforts
- Assist with presentation development, technical setup, and meeting support for monthly All Staff meetings and other department or board meetings as needed
- Conduct staff interviews and develop "day-in-the-life" stories and other employee features for internal and external communications
- Help manage and strengthen AgeSpan's employer brand across platforms such as LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and Indeed
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Compliance, IT, and leadership teams to support organizational communication needs
- Manage digital and visual internal communication content across the Lawrence and Danvers offices, including TV screens, signage, and workplace messaging
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in communications, public relations, content development, journalism, or digital media
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, highly collaborative work environment
- Superb writing, video, editing, and proofing skills, and strong interviewing experience required
- Self-starter with the ability to distill information or a story to its most compelling form; take initiative to generate content and develop story ideas
- Critical thinking and planning skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
- Exceptional professional communication and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and resourceful with attention to detail.
- Skilled in social media and email marketing content creation and management
- Knowledge of AP style and SEO preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products; CRM/marketing and video content creation tools, Hootsuite and WordPress experience preferred
- Nonprofit experience a plus
- Experience with diversity, equity and inclusion-oriented narratives preferred
- Able to recognize problems, troubleshoot, and clearly explain potential solutions
- Stay current with event and regularly identify opportunities to connect them to our work
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
Hours: 37.5 per week
At AgeSpan, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining rate of pay. Actual rate of pay depends on factors including but not limited to internal equity, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $70,000 - $74,000/year.
