Job Description
NAOVI is seeking a Journeyman Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Redaction Analyst to assist the government with the following task:
Primary Responsibilities
- Respond to public and official requests for review and release of classified and/or sensitive agency information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act (PA), Executive Order (EO) 13526 (Classified National Security Information), and appropriate IC policies and procedures.
- Respond to complex cases, such as those including FOIA litigation and FOIA appeals, demonstrating extensive knowledge of the FOIA and PA exemptions and administrative requirements.
- Conduct Mandatory Declassification Review (MDR) and Automatic Declassification Review (ADR) in accordance with EO 13526.
- Coordinate taskings, searches, and document collection activities across internal IC agency components and external government agencies.
- Validate adequacy of record searches and ensure all relevant facts are accurately captured in case documentation.
- Conduct thorough review of case files to ensure all required actions such as search confirmations, consultations, document reviews, and correspondence, are complete and properly documented.
- Monitor case progress to ensure compliance with all deadlines and coordinate workflow with government leaders and other stakeholders.
- Provide high-quality, grammatically error-free work requiring minimal government editing.
- Submit signed final response letters to requesters and close cases within three business days of government approval.
- Track and update the status of cases in a timely and accurate manner using agency tools as identified by the Government.
- Provide inputs to annual compliance reports as directed by the Government.
- In accordance with applicable law and in the Government direction, ensure that the agency information which has been cleared for public release is available for public inspection and/or copying/downloading.
Required Education And Experience
- All candidates Must currently possess an Active TS/SCI with CI or FS Polygraph security clearance. Required
- Candidates without the required security clearance will Not be considered for this position. Our company Does Not provide sponsorship for clearances.
- All candidates Must have a BS/BA + 5 years of experience required, or 9+ years of experience with no degree. Required
- Demonstrated experience supporting FOIA, PA, MDR, and/or ADR case processing, including coordination, documentation, drafting correspondence, and interacting with requesters.
- Strong ability to review sensitive government records and ensure compliance with disclosure, privacy, and classification requirements.
- Excellent written communication skills, with a proven ability to produce error-free, professionally formatted documents.
- Proficiency with case management tools and document-handling systems; experience with IC or agency systems is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to accurately document case actions.
Preferred FOIA Skills
- Experience with FOIA case management within the Intelligence Community.
- Familiarity with FOIA records tracking systems.
- Background in legal, paralegal, compliance, or records management disciplines.
- Prior experience drafting official correspondence and coordinating with multiple government entities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
