Job Summary/Basic Function
The Internal Communications Coordinator serves as the primary liaison for universitywide executive messaging to employees and students. They oversee the development and execution of internal communication strategies for the Office of the President and Office of the Provost to advance leadership's vision and institutional priorities. This position may lend occasional support to other university leaders.
Job Duties Of The Position Include The Following
- Draft, edit, and distribute high-level executive communications including universitywide emails, announcements, newsletters, and various print/digital products for faculty, staff, and other audiences as necessary. Work closely with the Student Access & Success student communications team to distribute executive communications to student audiences. Coordinate with Human Resources to review universitywide communications on salary/benefits, required training, and organizational changes
- Research and implement best practices regarding emerging communication trends, distribution platforms, and digital accessibility standards (ADA compliance)
- Analyze engagement metrics such as open rates, click-throughs, and sentiment analysis to provide reports on communication effectiveness. Conduct internal surveys and focus groups to assess employees' communication preferences and recommendations
- Work with the president's and provost's staff to develop topics and messaging recommendations for leadership town halls. Support post-event workflows, such as Q&A summaries or follow-up surveys to close the feedback loop
Required
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, English, or related field of study
- Three years of full-time, professional experience in the communication profession (e.g. public relations, marketing, journalism) or related field
Preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Notable experience in developing and executing internal communication strategies for a large organization
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, and the ability to adapt writing to different audiences
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to gather, verify, organize, and simplify information
- Experience with social media content creation or account management
- Knowledge of branding and integrated marketing
