Role overview
Cell Press is launching a new premium open access journal, Cell Press Blue, which will be a multidisciplinary journal reflecting the best of Cell Press's flagship titles and serving as a vital bridge to the Cell Reports series. We are seeking an Associate Scientific Editor to join the team and contribute to its rapid development. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape a prominent new journal, working closely with the Editor-in-Chief for physical science.
The Associate Scientific Editor will be responsible for being a primary point of contact with sister journals, developing multiple areas within the journal, and driving new initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Developing and fostering partnerships with other editorial teams at Cell Press, as well as production, marketing, press, and advertising teams.
- Undertaking editorial evaluation of submissions to ensure the quality and value of the journal.
- Developing a broad appeal, impactful, topical, and cohesive journal.
- Drawing on and developing a network of leading researchers to attract influential article submissions.
- Traveling extensively to attend relevant conferences and visit leading research institutes.
- Playing an important role in supporting the wider research ecosystem at Cell Press.
Requirements
- Proven research expertise relevant to physical science; a background in material science would be beneficial but not essential.
- Ability to effectively network and communicate with national and international researchers.
- Capacity to think conceptually and critically about a wide range of scientific issues.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Compensation And Benefits
- U.S. National Base Pay Range: $59,200 - $98,600. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates.
- Country-specific benefits are offered.
