Corporate Writer/Editor Senior
$77,000 - $96,000 | Hybrid with reporting in-person to Duluth, Minnesota

ALLETE is seeking a communications professional to plan, develop and execute strategic communications that support company priorities, engage stakeholders and strengthen the reputation of ALLETE, Minnesota Power and affiliated businesses. In this role, you will provide timely communications support and rapid response for emerging issues, while partnering with business leaders and subject matter experts to translate complex information into clear, effective messages for diverse audiences. You will identify and develop compelling stories and content across traditional and digital channels that advance company priorities, enhance stakeholder understanding, and build corporate reputation.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and deliver strategic communications that are clear, accurate, and audience-focused, ensuring internal and external stakeholders receive timely, relevant and accessible information through the most effective communication channels.
- Create compelling content across multiple platforms and formats, including written, visual, video, digital and multimedia communications, while identifying and developing stories that strengthen stakeholder engagement, understanding and support for company priorities.
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to leaders and business partners by providing strategic counsel, assessing issues, identifying risks and opportunities, and developing messaging that supports business objectives and protects corporate reputation.
- Build strong relationships and collaborate across diverse teams, providing guidance and support to writers, contractors and project teams, managing multiple priorities and deadlines, and supporting administrative and budget activities related to communications initiatives.
- Support media relations and crisis communications efforts, including serving as a company spokesperson, responding to media inquiries and assisting with communications during storms, emergencies and other high-profile situations, while demonstrating exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in communications, journalism, English or equivalent.

- Seven or more years of related experience

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $77,000 - $96,000. Compensation offered will vary based on knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions.
