Overview
The Office of Communications and Marketing in the College of Agriculture and Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station is seeking applicants for a Communications and Marketing Specialist who will create communications, marketing and promotional material delivered through various mediums in the college, school, or department.
Responsibilities
- Write news releases for the College of Agriculture and the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station (AAES).
- Target news and story pitches to local, state, regional and national media.
- Coordinate photography for news releases and related materials.
- Serve as copy editor for all college and AAES marketing materials and for news and feature stories written by other writers for the college or AAES.
- Serve as an editor of The Season digital magazine. Editorial duties may include story planning, development of production timelines, organization of planning and production meetings, writing and photography assignments, deadline assignments and copy editing.
- Write a variety of marketing materials for student recruitment, fundraising and related purposes.
- Upload news and feature stories to the AU Wire.
- Create and manage targeted email campaigns.
- Other duties as assigned by the director of communications and marketing.
Qualifications
Level I:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related field.
Level II
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related field and 2 years of experience in marketing and communications services to include print journalism.
Level III
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related field and 4 years of experience in marketing and communications services to include print journalism.
SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED FOR EXPERIENCE: Yes, When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
