Communications Marketing Specialist
Compensation: $23.50–$26.50 per hour; generous benefits package including Medical, Dental & Retirement
Hours: Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt. Some occasional evenings and weekends required

About The Role
Congregation Neveh Shalom is seeking a Communications Marketing Specialist with strong graphic design, writing, and digital communications skills to help tell the story of our vibrant congregation and connect our community with Jewish life, learning, and engagement.
Serving more than 850 families, Neveh Shalom offers a rich array of programs, events, services, and community initiatives. This hands-on creative role will bring them to life through compelling visual and written communications across email, web, social media, and print.
The ideal candidate is a creative, organized self-starter with a strong eye for design who can develop polished communications, manage multiple projects, and collaborate with staff, clergy, and lay leaders.
Graphic Design & Communications
- Serve as the congregation’s primary graphic design resource, creating polished, engaging materials that reflect the Neveh Shalom brand.
- Design digital and print materials including email graphics, social media, event promotions, flyers, posters, invitations, and newsletters.
- Manage and update the congregation’s website, community calendars, email lists, and social media channels.
- Coordinate the collection, editing, and organization of content for the biweekly community eblast.
- Lead the development of a quarterly digital newsletter, gathering stories, photos, and updates from clergy, staff, and lay leaders.
- Write, edit, and proofread engaging content for email, web, social media, newsletters,
and print.
- Maintain consistent visual branding across congregational communications and help
staff and lay leaders use established branding effectively.
Marketing, Content & Collaboration
- Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies to promote programs,
events, services, and initiatives.
- Collaborate with clergy, staff, and lay leaders to gather information, identify stories, and
create timely and engaging content.
- Coordinate marketing materials and external communications, including press releases
and media relations.
- Create email campaigns and digital promotions using platforms such as Constant Contact ,Canva, social media channels, WordPress, and others.
- Select and prepare photographs, graphics, and other visual assets for communications.
High Holy Days & Special Events
- Maintain an organized communications schedule for High Holy Day preparations,
keeping materials, deadlines, and messaging on track.
- Support staff and clergy with communications and marketing for the High Holy Days and
other major congregational events.
- Occasionally assist with evening and weekend events and communications needs.
Requirements
- Graphic design skills with a demonstrated eye for visual composition, typography,
layout, and branding.
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Canva, and other Adobe Creative Cloud or digital
design tools.
- Promotional writing and copywriting skills, with the ability to gather information about
programs and events and turn it into clear, engaging, audience-focused descriptions that
drive interest and attendance.
- Strong editing, proofreading, organizational, and project-management skills.
- Experience in creating professional-quality digital and print communications.
- Proficiency with WordPress and Constant Contact; ShulCloud knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, professional staff, and lay leaders.
- 2–5 years of experience in graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related
field.
- Familiarity with Jewish culture, customs, and the rhythm of Jewish communal life is a
plus.
