Summary:
The Communications Specialist supports Equity Bank's internal and external communications, helping ensure clear, consistent, and timely messaging to employees, customers, and the communities the bank serves. This role plays a key part in supporting the bank's growth and integration efforts, including recent and upcoming acquisitions, by helping draft and coordinate employee announcements, customer communications, and public-facing messaging. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career communications professional to build meaningful experience in a fast-growing community bank.
Responsibilities And Expectations
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, and coordinate internal communications, including employee announcements, newsletters, and updates related to company initiatives and organizational changes
- Support the development of customer-facing communications, including notices related to promotions, product changes, and acquisition/integration milestones
- Assist in drafting and maintaining internal FAQ documents to support employees and customer-facing teams during periods of change
- Coordinate press release drafts and basic media inquiries in partnership with marketing leadership, ensuring consistent tone and messaging
- Support the review and refinement of external-facing language for accuracy, clarity, and audience sensitivity — particularly for community banking and M&A-related communications
- Maintain and update website and intranet content related to communications and company announcements
- Assist with the coordination of internal communications calendars, ensuring messages are sequenced appropriately across audiences and channels
- Support crisis or time-sensitive communications needs under the direction of marketing leadership
- Write scripts for internal and external video content, partnering with the video/creative team to ensure messaging is clear and on-brand
- Write and manage blog content that supports the bank's communications and content marketing goals
- Provide copywriting support for advertising and promotional materials, ensuring consistent voice and messaging across channels
- Partner with the broader marketing team on brand-consistent messaging across all communications materials
Requirements
Required Skills & Education
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
- 2-4 years of experience in a communications, public relations, or marketing role
- Strong writing and editing skills, with close attention to tone, accuracy, and audience, and the versatility to write across formats, including video scripts, blog content, and advertising copy
- Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion, particularly around organizational change and M&A activity
- Comfortable managing multiple deadlines and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with the banking or financial services industry is a plus but not required
