Company Description

The Chicago Council on Science and Technology (C2ST) is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about science and technology issues important to the community. Through free or low-cost events in the Chicagoland area, C2ST collaborates with national laboratories, academic institutions, and museums to inspire interest and engagement in science. C2ST fosters public learning and dialogue, advocating for the scientific community and promoting accessibility to science for all. The organization strives to ignite curiosity and inform the public on key scientific and technological advancements.

Responsibilities

Identify and target social media accounts for marketing of programs and development campaigns.
Assist with media relationships and manage social media accounts.
Draft and implement social media strategy and engagement efforts.
Devise and project manage posting schedules with input from the team.
Lead and independently copywrite for social media accounts and the weekly newsletter.
Communicate and assist the programming team with establishing linkages with other STEM-based organizations and partners.
Stay knowledgeable and stay up to date on various like-minded organizations and events in the Chicagoland area to aid the program development process within C2ST.
Manage promotional strategy implementation across platforms, including GoogleAds.
Tracks digital engagement metrics for reports and grant applications.
Lead digital meetings with the team.
The position is mostly remote, but being local to the area is a bonus.

Must be responsive and proactive in work style.
We work as a small but highly efficient team, so great communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
Prior experience with non-profit work, community-based relationships, and post schedulers is a plus.
Experience with website development is a plus.
Interest in science and an alignment with our mission is very welcome.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in a similar role with proven success.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workplace.
Strong experience with Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, website maintenance, and mass mailing platforms required.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Strong ability to multitask.
Comfort working with multiple groups within an organization.

Hours

This is a part-time, contracted position with a maximum of 10 hours a week.
Rate of $25/hour.
