The North Carolina Arts Council is seeking a well-rounded Content and Communications Coordinator to join our team! The Content and Communications Coordinator will manage the specific content strategies developed to communicate the public value of the arts and the North Carolina Arts Council’s programs to the public and to constituents. This position will be working under the supervision of the Marketing Director, this position is responsible for generating content for web, email, print, and video, and helps manage social media and Come Hear NC-related content. In addition, this position serves as a liaison with the DNCR Marketing team and takes on other departmental assignments as determined by the supervisor.

Management Prefers

Demonstrated experience creating and/or managing content and user engagement across multiple social media platforms, such as Facebook and/or Instagram.
Demonstrated experience writing content tailored to different audiences and/or platforms, such as blog posts, newsletters, speeches, press releases, or marketing copy.
Demonstrated experience in providing logistical support for meetings, webinars, workshops, and/or other events.
Demonstrated experience working with content management systems (CMS) such as Drupal or WordPress to update and/or maintain website content.
Demonstrated experience with North Carolina’s arts or music communities, demonstrated through professional experience, academic study, or direct involvement with local artists, organizations, and/or cultural programming.

Key Responsibilities

In alignment with the N.C. Arts Council’s strategic priorities, brand voice, and growth goals, develop and manage content for the North Carolina Music Office's social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and others. Monitor and respond to audience interactions on social media platforms in a timely and professional manner.
Write and publish blog posts highlighting North Carolina's vibrant music scene, upcoming events, and industry insights. Conduct interviews with local artists, producers, and industry professionals to craft compelling artist profiles.
Along with the Content and Social Media Manager, write and publish content for the N.C. Arts Council newsletter and blog.
Write communication copy, including press releases, speeches, and general marketing messaging for social and ads. Assist in the promotion of events, programs, and initiatives through targeted marketing campaigns.
Provide logistical and on-site project management for major public-facing events, including the biennial Heritage Award Ceremony, the N.C. Poet Laureate Induction Ceremony, and public meetings related to strategic planning.
Collaborate with the N.C. Arts Council’s Marketing Director to develop and implement a content strategy that promotes the agency and the North Carolina Music Office’s mission and programs. Assist in the structuring of N.C. Arts Council and N.C. Music Office websites.
Work closely with the N.C. Music Office Creative Economies Director to distill information gathered during monthly NCMO / Come Hear NC Workgroup. The Workgroup encourages collaborative, cross-departmental music programming and centralizes a method of gathering and promoting music programming details from DNCR agencies

Position/Physical Requirements

Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday 8:30am- 5:00pm.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs., bend, reach, climb-step ladder, load supplies onto carts and/or into and out of vehicles with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to travel and work after hours and weekends when necessary.

Bachelor’s degree from appropriately accredited institution

AND

One year of experience related to the area of assignment

Veteran’s and National Guard Preference
