We've interviewed notable alumni across every field, including the CFO of CNN, Delphi AI Founder, Former UVA President Jim Ryan, UVA Head Coaches (Basketball & Swim), and more.

Now, we're looking for motivated UVA students to join our team. This is a chance to get hands-on experience working for a startup. Gain skills in networking, interviewing, professional communication, marketing, sales, and more.

This is an internship role located in Charlottesville, Virginia.

(1) Interviewer & Writing Editor

Every week, a UVA alum opens their inbox to find themselves featured in front of 1,000+ readers. You help make that happen.

Reach out to and follow up with UVA alumni to schedule interviews
Conduct interviews using prepared question sets for article consistency
Work directly with the founder on content production
Transform interview transcripts into polished feature posts in Hoo You Know’s editorial voice

What we're looking for

Strong writing and editing skills
Can conduct a professional interview and make personal connections
Ability to reach out to and follow up with UVA alumni

(2) Growth & Marketing

We've hit 1,000+ subscribers. Help us get to 10,000+.

You know how information travels at UVA (which clubs matter, who people actually listen to). We're not handing you a playbook; we want you to help write it.

Grow our subscriber base among UVA students and alumni
Run social media campaigns (Instagram, LinkedIn)
Spread posters and materials around Grounds
Coordinate outreach to student organizations and alumni networks
Identify and test new channels for growth
Work directly with the founder on growth strategy

What we're looking for

Creative and willing to move fast
Comfortable owning a project from idea to execution
Bonus: graphic design skills

(3) Business Development

We've already partnered with brands like The Foundry/Next Gen at UVA, Delphi AI, ICONIQ Capital, Ember Fellows, and Roku. Help us expand that list.

You'll identify brands that want to reach UVA students and alumni, pitch them on partnering with Hoo You Know, and close deals.

Research and identify potential partners aligned with our audience
Reach out and pitch with a compelling case for Hoo You Know
Manage relationships from first contact through signed deal
Work directly with the founder on partnership strategy

What we're looking for

Comfortable making the ask — in writing and in person
Self-motivated: you can manage your own pipeline
Strong written and verbal communication
Bonus: experience in sales, business development, or entrepreneurship
