Position Summary
The Recruiter is responsible for recruitment and admissions counseling functions for all academic programs at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine ( UIWSOM ). This position will attend and represent UIWSOM at externally sponsored recruitment events throughout the country, providing information on UIWSOM programs to prospective students and other external audiences including health career counselors, academic and professional advisors, undergraduate faculty, high school guidance counselors, parents, and the public. The Recruiter reports to the Director of Admissions and Recruitment.

Description Of Job Duties - Recruit students to UIWSOM programs to include:
- Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
- Master of Biomedical Sciences
- Master of Public Health
- Direct Admission Program
- Assist and support the Director in planning and executing the recruitment strategy; participate in meetings to discuss strategies for meeting recruitment goals.
- Help disseminate university information on programs, cycles, admissions requirements, and other related issues as needed to meet goals.
- Regularly travel to assigned areas within the United States to recruit prospective students and build relationships with health professions advisors (average of 40%-75% during specific times of the year).
- With guidance of the Director, manage admissions recruiting territory as assigned to include tracking new recruitment opportunities within the assigned regions; maintain written and verbal correspondence with event organizers.
- Identify and develop partnerships, recruitment opportunities, and organizations within community colleges and university groups with whom to promote UIWSOM .
- Build and maintain strong relationships with pipeline universities, high schools, professors, clubs/organizations, candidates, and advisors.
- Respond to admissions inquiries in a timely and personalized manner; track students and partner communications and enrollment results in an accurate and timely manner in CRM AMP .
- Regularly counsels candidates during application preparation and throughout the admissions process; continues communication with prospective students including review of academic eligibility and routinely has difficult conversations with candidates who do not meet admissions criteria.
- Assist in the planning and execution of programs, including summer discovery programs, direct admission, and other medical school preparation programs.
- Represent UIWSOM and its programs to prospective students; present group presentations, speaking engagements, such as admission counselor panels, and workshops at university fairs and consortiums.
- Assist in the coordination of interview days and provide direction to candidates.
- Under the direction of the Director of Admissions and Associate Dean, markets all academic programs within UIWSOM using electronic media and web-based initiatives (i.e., web pages, e-marketing, applicant e-newsletter, social media, and podcasting) and maintains detailed records on click rates and other analytics to measure effectiveness.
- Upon approval from the Director or Assistant Dean, maintain all social media sites with daily posts and appropriate content; develop and execute the department’s social media annual plan.
- Support the university and AMP phone/texting platforms and create monthly podcasts and daily/weekly graphics for all recruitment events.
- Assist the Assistant Dean and Director in the maintenance and development of UIWSOM Admissions web pages and independently update the site in coordination with the Office of Digital Strategy and Marketing to ensure correct data is posted.
- Assist the Director and Assistant Dean with the creation, review, and update of marketing and admissions materials to include print materials (i.e., brochures, information packets, flyers, view books, giveaways, etc.) using creative software, such as Canva, and collaborate with multiple vendors.
- Assist with the coordination of professional photoshoots on and off campus.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of current trends in the use of social media to recruit, with an emphasis on the use of electronic media, social networking, and web-based marketing.
- Strong editing skills to ensure all marketing materials meet the highest standards.
- Strong ability to work with confidential material with attention to detail.
- Strong ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team-based environment.
- Strong time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to confidently travel independently for extended periods, often in the evening or early morning, depending on travel requirements.

- Employees shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA .
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree.
Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of related professional work experience in recruitment for higher education admissions or other relevant areas such as counseling, marketing, communications, or business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in a health professional school.
- Experience with Banner and a Centralized Application Service ( CAS ).
Required Certifications, Licenses Or Registrations
- Must have a valid current driver’s license, REAL ID compliant as required for airline travel and the ability to be insured through UIW’s vehicle insurance carrier.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Work Hours
- Regular work hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work and travel will be required to meet departmental needs.
- Occasional travel 40% – 75% at specified times throughout the year.
Physical Demands
Lifting and/or pulling materials up to 50 pounds of recruiting supplies.
