Job Summary
The Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator plays an important role in developing and executing the Environmental Humanities Program's community engagement and outreach strategy. They will coordinate the Program's community engagement efforts, including partnerships with local environmental nonprofits, supporting and educating Community Engagement Graduate Fellows, event planning, and coordination of the semesterly practitioner-in-residence. They will also assist with Environmental Humanities outreach to community partners and audiences via content created for the Program's social media, blog, and newsletter.
Responsibilities
- Implement community engagement goals and objectives for the EH Program.
- Plan events that engage in conversation with local environmental issues.
- Serve as a point person for the semesterly practitioner-in-residence, including workshop and event coordination.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with local environmental nonprofits and grassroots groups and stay actively engaged in local environmental issues.
- Work with and support Community Engagement Graduate Fellows, including assisting them in identifying a community partner and developing a community-based project.
- Serve as a resource for EH Program graduate and undergrad students pursuing community engaged work.
- Assist with implementation of communication plan with coordination across the EH Program's social media, blog, and newsletter.
- Collaborate with the Program's director, academic program manager, and finance administrator
- Offer the abilities and insights of an accomplished community organizer alongside the Program's academic excellence.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus one year of directly related experience
Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Preferences
- Master's degree.
- Demonstrated success in establishing relationships and engaging in collaborative research with community organizations.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to implement and complete projects.
- Ability to support and educate students in best practices for community engagement.
- Experience with working in a team and university environment and with students is desirable. Experience with teaching at a university level is desirable.
