Position Overview
We are looking for a Storytelling & Communications Strategist to lead the creation and distribution of compelling narratives that reflect the heart and mission of NCUS Enterprises. This role will be instrumental in shaping how we communicate across newsletters, journals, digital platforms, and national media—ensuring our voice is heard, our stories are shared, and our mission is understood.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a storytelling strategy that highlights the impact of Urban Scholars, NCUS TEC, and AAMWA.
- Write, edit, and publish content for newsletters, journals, blogs, press releases, and social media.
- Collaborate with program leaders, students, alumni, and partners to surface authentic stories.
- Manage editorial calendars and oversee the production of recurring publications.
- Ensure consistency in brand voice, tone, and messaging across all platforms.
- Support national media outreach and build relationships with journalists and content partners.
- Track engagement metrics and use insights to refine content strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in nonprofit, education, or mission-driven communications.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong narrative voice.
- Proven ability to translate complex ideas into accessible, emotionally resonant stories.
- Experience with content management systems, newsletter platforms, and social media strategy.
- Deep commitment to equity, education, and community empowerment.
Preferred Skills
- Multimedia storytelling (video, podcasting, photography).
- Graphic design or visual storytelling tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Familiarity with urban education, workforce development, or public policy.
