FIGHTING PRETTY CONTENT MANAGER POSITION
About Us:
Fighting Pretty is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help women battling cancer feel strong and beautiful. Based out of Portland, Oregon, Fighting Pretty has three main programs:
- Strength and Beauty: Fighting Pretty works with volunteers to develop care packages known as “Strength and Beauty Kits” sent to women in active cancer treatment; the Fighting Pretty team has a goal to send thousands of Strength and Beauty Kits every year
- Pretty Packages: Fighting Pretty offers a full online retail shop where customers can create made-to-order “Pretty Packages” for women battling cancer; each order is packaged on site and personalized for each recipient
- Fighting Pretty Community: With thousands of members inclusive of our in-person events, online community and email and blog subscribers, Fighting Pretty shares content, events and runs campaigns to keep these women feeling engaged, empowered and inspired through their cancer journey
Fighting Pretty is seeking a content manager with a strong background in marketing and social media to grow brand awareness and engagement on digital media platforms including social channels, email and website. We are looking for a content manager to analyze current media and industry trends to develop engaging marketing techniques that would raise customer engagement and attract potential donors and followers.

Job Title: Content Manager
Job Type and Schedule: This is a part-time position with flexible working hours, but the content manager is expected to work 20 hours per week and in the office 1-2 days per week. May require some evenings and weekends as needed. Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Pay Rate: $20.00
Benefits: PTO and sick time, plus 10 paid holidays per year
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a qualified and passionate content manager to join our team. He/she/they will be responsible for creating, improving and maintaining content to achieve our goals and humanize and drive advocacy efforts in support of Fighting Pretty’s mission.
Our ideal candidate is an experienced professional with demonstrable creative writing and design skills who has a passion for helping people and shares in the tone of Fighting Pretty. As a content manager, this person will be the “voice” of our brand when interacting with followers and community members.
This role is crucial to our mission as it is the primary way we interact with our donors, followers and online community members who are introduced to the Fighting Pretty brand.
Sensitivity, professionalism and attention to detail is critical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Social media management: Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X and LinkedIn; Monitor and track social media measurements and online discussions (blog feedback, ie. hashtags, campaigns, “Fighting Pretty Through Cancer” group on Facebook)
- Email campaigns: Design and send email campaigns for educational, informative and inspirational purposes (ie. Monthly newsletter, Cancer Hacks, other emails as needed) that correspond with social media content
- Content Management: Moderate user-generated content in line with the moderation policy for each community; Reach out to sources (patients, donors, partners, etc.) for additional content when necessary; Organize and archive image libraries in digital filing systems (GDrive, MailChimp, Canva); Develop and/or update content for website projects, blog and other special online projects as needed
- Collaborative Teamwork: Work with marketing, outreach, operations and events team to develop editorial calendars to reflect all programs; Attend weekly staff calls (in-person) to stay up to date on Fighting Pretty programs and plan for upcoming needs
Job Requirements:
- Social media connoisseur with strong understanding of the digital media landscape, including various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube) and social media analytics
- Strong written communications and designs skills with sharp attention to detail (no typos please); Experience in creating designs in adherence to visual branding identity guides; Canva experience preferred
- Video editing experience a plus
- Must be professional in work and event setting
- Ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities in a focused and timely manner
- Able to work with little direction
- Comfortable receiving feedback and adjusting assets as needed
- Able to work successfully in a diverse team environment
- Creative, collaborative, flexible and eager to learn; willing to jump into projects where needed
- Comfortable with taking photos/laydowns required
- Support the team during FP fundraisers, events, and operational needs.
- Timely responses to team communications, email, text, etc.; responsible in being transparent of work schedule; notifying team members of time off and/or sick time
- Must own a personal computer to use for work and have reliable transportation to get to and from work and/or events
- Ensure compliance with law (e.g. copyright and data protection)
