TITLE: Senior Director for Strategy and Development
REPORTS TO: Executive Director

How you’ll contribute:
The Senior Director for Strategy and Development (Senior Director) is the Executive Director’s thought partner in developing and implementing the overall vision and strategy of the organization and helping to lead Tribe 12 through a period of vibrant growth. The Senior Director is responsible for overseeing the organization’s fundraising efforts, measurement and implementation of our 2025 strategic plan alongside the Executive Director. The Senior Director will work closely with the Executive Director in the development of short and long-range development, programmatic, and operational goals for Tribe 12. The Senior Director will work collaboratively with our team to communicate Tribe 12’s impact and raise the funds necessary to support our work.
Fundraising and Development (50%)
- Work with the Executive Director to determine the annual fundraising goals, strategies,
- and priorities of the organization.
- Create development communications calendar and create and manage annual direct
- mail, text and email appeal.
- Oversee the administration of fundraising efforts, including tracking donations in
- Salesforce and generating monthly and annual reports .
- Use reporting tools to measure and monitor the progress of all fundraising campaigns in
- order to meet or exceed fundraising goals.
- Create prospecting structures and moves management using DonorSearch and other
- tools.
- Nurture existing foundation relationships while forging new ones, writing grant proposals and reports, and cultivating relationships alongside the executive director.
- Write all grants with support from other staff with a goal of increasing grant income from $100K annually to $200K
- Advise and support the Communications and Operations Manager to provide relevant and informative fundraising materials and social media posts for distribution to donors and the public including creating a quarterly stakeholder newsletter.
- Oversee sponsorships and support planning and implementation of two annual fundraising events
- Attend various Tribe 12 programs to experience programming through a development lens.
- Manage and support the Development Committee and its Chair.
Strategy & Evaluation (30%)
- Serve as the lead staff managing our CRM, ensuring staff know how to properly utilize salesforce and its various add ons
- Use this data to support team in creating a program strategy
- Oversee the collection and analysis of our engagement and fundraising data and create board reports on this data. Develop new systems for measuring and tracking success towards our goals.
- Support the Executive Director with the creation of the annual budget and support staff in managing their budgets
- Steward a board committee focused on program evaluation
Supervision and Staff Management (20%)
- Supervise, mentor and support the growth of up to two FT and up to 2 PT staff members (no more than three total)
- Serve as a liaison with specific lay committees, Federation agencies and community organizations in the Jewish community to coordinate and implement programs.
- Create or partner in creating new systems and procedures to improve efficiency/communication internally
- Attend major events and serve as an additional member of the program team when needed
- This role will likely involve 3-4 evenings of work a month, including quarterly shabbat work and occasional holiday work
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required. Master’s degree or equivalent experience working in a Jewish nonprofit organization preferred.
- 5-8 years’ experience in Jewish communal work and/or development.
- Knowledge of Jewish community, culture, heritage, traditions and Jewish Communal Services.
- Comfort working both independently and collaboratively.
- A proven track record in fundraising, preferably within the American Jewish community.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective at communicating with a variety of stakeholders including constituents, board members, and community leaders. Grant writing experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience supervising staff or lay leaders and/or facilitating leadership development
- Accomplished organizational skills related to strategic planning, program oversight, and time management; must be detail-oriented.
- Strong data analysis and budgeting skills.
- Ability to connect people’s passions and interests to Tribe 12’s mission.
- Committed to pluralism and comfortable using personal relationship with Judaism to act as a role model and mentor for emerging Jewish adults.
- Familiarity using a database or CRM to build reports and/or segment audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically in order to reach goals.
- Knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles, including the current state of fundraising best practices.
- Proven success in managing multiple projects while maintaining quality.
- Willing to work flexible hours, including some evenings (on a weekly basis), weekends, and holidays.
Compensation and Benefits:
- This is a full-time position with a salary range of $75,000-$95,000

- Tribe 12 staff members receive a financial allotment up to $1,000 for their own professional development which can include travel to conferences or events
