Grants Research Analyst
The Aubrey Group is looking to fill the full-time position of GrantsResearch Analyst. This post is an excellent fit for an entry- to mid-level professional with an understanding of state and local regulations, municipal government, an interest in policy, and strong writing skills. Experience writing grant applications, public policy, standard operating procedures, or grant applications, or working for a government agency or within a highly regulated industry and/or administering programs funded via federal grants is helpful, but not required. We will train the right candidate to be a successful member of the team.
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about the impact that thoughtfully designed strategic programming can have on communities and who share in our values of kindness, curiosity, and diligence. As a growing organization, we are particularly interested in candidates who aspire to develop their careers and professional profiles alongside us. The individual who joins us in the role of Grants Research Analyst will be interested in growing in grant writing and program development, and developing expertise in specific subject areas. We plan on investing in and supporting that individual toward those ends. Our selected candidate will be expected to report to our Camden, NJ office with a hybrid schedule in place for virtual workdays.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Grants Research Analysts report to AG Project Manager who manages client communication and oversees project management.
- As directed by a Project Manager, research and summarize federal, state, and local public policy, regulations, practices, and programs as well as foundation funding sources including, legislative initiatives, budget appropriations and government agency budgets.
- Research and evaluate new opportunities for assigned clients.
- Prepare client-facing summaries of program deliverables and reporting requirements.
- Prepare internal-facing summaries of application requirements.
- Prepare application content including narratives, budgets, letters of support etc.
- Coordinate data collection and summarize data.
- When required, coordinate with external consultants (graphic designers, video production, engineers etc.) and partners (academic, health care, economic development, organized labor etc.).
- Work with Project Managers to coordinate application preparation and submission.
- Perform quality control and copy editing on application content prepared by other writers.
- Attend client meetings during daytime and evening hours, via Zoom and in-person.
- Successfully manage your own schedule in a hybrid workplace environment.
- Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and ask for help when needed.
- Most importantly, this role must consistently meet all assigned deadlines.
- Grants Research Analysts may be asked to assist with public facing grants marketing materials such as our company grants newsletter, website, and social posts.
- Grants Research Analysts may assist with case study development after the completion of a successful project.
- Participate in Business Development and Aubrey Group growth strategy conversations.
Required experience:
- Research and writing: 3+ years of demonstrated critical thinking in research and writing in any social science or humanities-adjacent field.
- Bachelor’s degree in a social science or humanities field, such as Political Science, Sociology, English Literature, Government, Philosophy, etc., or equivalent non-traditional educational experience with a focus on research and writing.
- Experience collaborating with others on research / writing projects.
- Experience studying or working in a hybrid / virtual environment.
- Comfortable working in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Adobe, Zoom, and Slack.
- Experience quickly adapting to new systems, including data management and communications software.
- Must have the ability to effectively complete multiple projects at one time, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Experience managing your own schedule.
- Must have a basic level understanding of the structure, function, and history of American government.
- Must have a basic level understanding of grants and how they operate.
- Comfort working within the constraint of a grants project budget, with support from Project Manager.
Desired Qualifications:
- Excel data modeling and analysis and Adobe Pro and PowerPoint graphic design skills.
- Experience leading or managing a long-term project.
- Experience in grant research and writing, preparing policy briefs, grant proposals and professional writing, in either a public sector or nonprofit setting.
- Experience navigating state and local regulations.
- Base level understanding of the functionality and history of American political institutions and public policy.

- Competitive pay with a position pay scale ranging from $45,000 for entry level applicants to $54,000 for experienced professionals that can independently perform key components of the position.
