The Position:
The People & Culture Generalist supports the daily operations of the People & Culture department and delivers high-quality, people-centered service to teammates across the organization. This role reflects our commitment to being humble, courageous, gritty, and a light to those we serve by supporting HR administrative processes, HRIS systems, compliance, and a positive and engaging teammate experience.
The Duties:
HR Operations & Administration
- Maintain employee records, HR documentation, and personnel files in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Maintain I-9s & E-Verify compliance, train, run audits, and consult employees with documentation.
- Aid in coordinating and scheduling required employee and leadership training.
- Perform HRIS administration including data entry, updates, audits, and standard reporting.
- Support pre-employment processes such as background checks, drug screens, and other required screenings.
- Assist in regulatory areas (EEOC, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, etc.) and employee relations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws as well as industry regulations.
- Develop and assist in maintenance of compliance programs.
- Manage unemployment and employment verification programs and coordinate annual training.
- Complete engagement platform biweekly tax and census files.
- Assist with coordination of regular teammate surveys.
- Respond to teammate inquiries in a timely manner.
- Process biweekly 401k funding file and census data.
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Serve as a point of contact for general HR questions regarding policies, benefits, processes, and HRIS navigation.
- Support employee relations processes by gathering information, scheduling meetings, preparing summaries, and documenting follow-up actions.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure HR processes are delivered consistently and fairly.
Culture, Engagement & Community Support
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives, company events, and culture-related activities.
- Support communication efforts related to People and Culture including monthly newsletter, events and other recognition efforts.
- Occasionally represent the organization at community events or internal gatherings as needed.
- Uphold the organization’s mission, values, and professional standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment in all HR interactions.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and development activities.
- Represent People & Culture with professionalism, empathy, and service-oriented mindset.
The Qualities:
- Ability to provide dependable, high-quality support to teammates while modeling our values of humility, courage, grit, and being a light.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through; able to juggle multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
- Solid understanding of HR processes, basic employment laws, and compliance practices.
- Excellent communicator with a customer-service mindset and the ability to build positive relationships.
- Comfortable navigating HR technology systems and Microsoft Office tools.
- Demonstrates discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) are a plus.
- Education or training in Human Resources or a related field is a plus.
