Email Strategist
Position Overview:
The Email Strategist is a cross-functional role within Fortune’s consumer marketing organization, focused on driving business impact through our newsletter portfolio. This position will champion audience acquisition, subscriber engagement, referral and ad performance, and internal promotions, while partnering closely with Business Intelligence on reporting and analytics. The strategist will advocate for and facilitate technology and process improvements to enable seamless, scalable newsletter operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute consumer revenue strategies across Fortune’s newsletter portfolio, driving subscription conversions, event registrations, premium product adoption, and other owned-and-operated monetization initiatives.
- Work with design, editorial, marketing, and business development to test and optimize newsletter templates, CTAs, modules, and promotional placements, prioritizing revenue impact alongside engagement.
- Lead the development and execution of subscriber-only and premium newsletters, defining audience targeting, value proposition, and monetization approach.
- Partner with BI to define consumer revenue and engagement KPIs, analyze performance, and translate insights into ongoing optimization through regular reporting and reviews.
- Analyze advertising and sponsored placement performance, collaborating with sales and product teams to optimize yield while maintaining a strong subscriber experience.
- Design and manage a hypothesis-driven A/B testing roadmap, using experimentation to improve conversion rates, revenue per send, and subscriber lifetime value.
- Recommend and support investments in ESPs, automation, and workflow tools to streamline operations, reduce deployment time, and enable portfolio scaling.
- Regularly review operational processes with stakeholders to identify and solve pain points in production, scheduling, and resource/backfill needs.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience in email marketing, CRM, or related roles (media, publisher, events, e-commerce preferred).
- Strong analytical mindset, with experience using marketing dashboards and translating insights into strategy.
- Collaborative communicator with project management experience coordinating marketing, editorial, BI, and sales.
- Familiarity with ESPs, automation/platform integrations, and basic A/B testing best practices.
- Strategic thinker who advocates for both business growth and operational excellence.
Success in this role means:
- Delivering quarter-over-quarter improvement in acquisition, engagement, and business KPIs.
- Streamlining operational workflows and deployment, supporting rapid newsletter scale.
- Facilitating clear and actionable use of data, ensuring email is a top-contributing channel to Fortune’s business goals.
Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000. This range is a good-faith estimate and may ultimately vary based on a number of relevant factors.
