Under the direction of the Solid Waste Manager, the purpose of this position is to coordinate and implement all aspects of Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful (KGPB), Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful programs and activities. Oversees the operation of KGPB volunteer-driven programs and events; manages all KGPB volunteers and works with the KGPB Commission. Assist department staff as it relates to awareness, education, beautification, and cleanup,.
- Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating all volunteer-intensive programs for Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful, and is responsible for the recruitment, training, recognition and retention of KGPB volunteers.
- Organizes volunteers to support KGPB programs including, but not limited to, the Clean & Beautiful Neighborhoods, Community Service, Great American Cleanup, Community Garden and Green & Clean Campus programs.
- Responds to community requests for special cleanup workdays or volunteer service days.
- Responsible for the development of, and adherence to, program timelines and budgets, and for the cost-effective and efficient use of KGPB resources.
Event Planning/Education Outreach Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, implements and evaluates KGPB’s major annual events – Earth Day, the Great American Cleanup, Texas America Recycles Day, and other events, as determined.
- Creates and updates program brochures, drafts press releases, pitches stories to media, writes ads and newsletter articles for events and updates KGPB Webpage and City calendar as needed.
- Writes and administers grants, and assist with event-related sponsorship acquisition.
- Represents the city’s KGPB program to a variety of civic groups, schools, and other related organizations.
Team Responsibilities
- Takes documentary photographs at all KGPB-related volunteer meetings and events. Generates impact reports and results summaries, including stormwater reports, Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful annual reports. Keeps accurate and up-to-date data and statistics on events for reporting, award applications, grant applications and event/program evaluation.
- Oversees all aspects of the Adopt-A-Street Program and other programs, including applicable site management, volunteer coordination, data-collection, and program logistics.
- Maintains a professional image and appearance at events requiring interaction with the public, City departments. Works to cultivate positive, collaborative community relationships to further the work of KGPB.
- Attends Quarterly Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful Commission meetings and provides staff reports as needed.
- Serves as coordinator of the city’s involvement in Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful programs.
- Regular and punctual attendance is expected. May be subject to working irregular hours such as evenings, weekends and holidays.

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Environmental Science, Education or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience, with additional work experience substituting for the required education on a year for year basis. Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED if substituting years of experience for bachelor’s degree.
- Experience: Two years of applicable experience in areas such as public relations, nonprofit event planning, volunteer coordination, program administration, environmental advocacy, or paid or unpaid volunteer work in a related field.
- Licenses: Valid Driver's License required
