Marketplace is looking for a multi-platform talented newsletter writer to work on our growing newsletter portfolio.
The ideal candidate is someone who can write with a conversational style; has exceptional news judgement and detail-orientation; and who loves writing pieces that explain complicated topics in an accessible and entertaining way, with unexpected angles, a strong voice, and a sense of humor.

Marketplace connects the dots for our audience on the economy, tech and culture through unexpected angles on the news. Our portfolio of broadcast programs has 12 million weekly listeners; along with millions more on our podcasts, smart speakers, newsletters, and digital.
This is a temporary position for 3-4 months. The writer will work closely with the newsletter editor and will report to the Executive Director of Growth and Development as part of a team focused on audience loyalty.
Expected Compensation Range: $40.25 - $48.30 / hourly. Exact rate determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.

Position Responsibility
- Write, research, program, and produce the newsletters. Bring speed, depth and a nuanced understanding to your work, especially as it relates to each newsletter’s value proposition.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on content and product development.
- Incorporate feedback to improve the products you work on.
- Use analytics to inform your work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education And Experience
- 1-3 years’ experience writing, reporting or producing, or relevant work experience.
- Experience in journalism.

Preferred Skills
- Experience planning and launching new products,
- Experience creating, monitoring and reporting success metrics for products
- Experience with tools like CMS and email delivery platforms, and analytics tools like Google Analytics
- Conceptually understand difference between a written story and an audio story and be able to deliver a story for different platforms.
