The Dink is the leading media brand in the fastest-growing sport in the world: pickleball. What started as a side project in 2021 has evolved into a full-stack media and events company that reaches 10s of millions monthly.
The Role
The Director of Growth Marketing owns the growth and marketing of The Dink’s robust digital and content ecosystem spanning newsletter, website, social and audio/video, as well as owned and partnership events. You will design, own, and optimize strategies that drive audience acquisition, engagement, and retention across The Dink’s core platforms.
This is a unique opportunity to lead the audience growth and brand development of a flagship media brand at the center of the fastest growing sport in the world.
What You'll Own
- Lead performance‑driven growth initiatives across newsletter, website, audio/video and social channels
- Build and manage data frameworks and experimentation pipelines to continuously improve acquisition, retention, and engagement
- Coordinate cross-channel distribution to amplify high-performing content and maximize reach
- Establish scalable growth systems, collaborating with content, analytics, and product functions
- Partner with channel owners (YouTube, Podcast) to test promotional tactics, amplify key episodes, and drive measurable audience and revenue growth
- Collaborate with partnerships team to optimize advertising and sponsorship campaigns to exceed key success metrics to drive ROI and increase renewals
Success Looks Like:
- 2x increase in newsletter subscribers within 12 months
- Significant lift in average email open and click-through rates
- 50% growth in website traffic and affiliate/programmatic revenue
- Provide analytical reports and leverage data to inform social growth strategy and increase followers meaningfully
- Clear experimentation roadmap tied to audience and performance KPIs. Use learnings to make smart recommendations that guide content and publishing strategies
- Tangible contribution to YouTube/Podcast performance via smart amplification
- Assist with maximizing ROI for partners and advertisers, increasing renewal rate by 20%
Who We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in growth marketing, digital media and content
- Deep understanding of key marketing metrics and KPIs (CTR, CPC, open rate, engagement rate, CPA, ROAS, LTV, etc.) with a track record of crafting data-driven campaigns to hit targets
- Expertise in digital publishing and audience growth, with an emphasis on website, newsletter and social
- Previous experience guiding the planning and creation of innovative creative and high-performing copy
- Ability to create and design assets and write copy when necessary
- Someone who is scrappy, takes initiative, problem solves and doesn’t hesitate to be hands-on when required
- Demonstrated ability to operate under tight deadlines
