Job Description
Ashoka is looking for a Volunteer Program Manager with human resource talent based in the Washington DC metro area (or within reasonable travel distance) who can manage our recruitment partnership with LinkedIn while building a community of volunteer "professional support partners" who can help propel and amplify the work of our global staff and Fellows. Because of our partnership with LinkedIn we are afforded free use of their global platform where our ads are targeted to professionals throughout their vast network. This generates a wealth of professionals whose talents are going unharnessed! One goal for this year is to select the most experienced of these volunteers and create a community that can be sustained in their desire to contribute to Ashoka's work around the world.
Responsibilities
At Ashoka you will be joining an extraordinary global team of innovative, optimistic, and committed staff who are dedicated to bringing systemic change for the good of all to a world that desperately needs it. You will get a birds eye view of innovative social change around the globe, while being able to meet and support some of the amazing social entrepreneurs that make up Ashoka's fellowship. Your responsibilities are to:
- Manage the platform we have created with LinkedIn to post ads for skill-based volunteering. You or a volunteer assistant will be reviewing, editing, formatting and activating ads as they come in from staff and Fellows.
- Create and keep current the communications volunteer applicants receive and the automated messages sent to staff and Fellows.
- Working with a volunteer assistant, screen applications as they come in to select the most highly qualified candidates to share with staff and Fellows as an ongoing talent resource.
- Again with volunteer assistance, cultivate and maintain a community of these exceptional volunteers (called Support Partners) with communications such as a bi-monthly newsletter and invitations to Fellow interviews and other online events.
- Conduct regular outreach to staff and Fellows about available Support Partners and to encourage use of the LinkedIn recruitment platform.

Ashoka's office in Rosslyn, VA is just across the Key Bridge in Georgetown and easily accessible by metro on the blue and green lines. There is also a parking garage underneath the building.
