About The Role
We're seeking a driven, entrepreneurial sales rep to build and grow our premium/direct advertising revenue across Merriam-Webster and Encyclopaedia Britannica with a newsletter first approach. You'll lead outbound efforts, build compelling proposals, and manage client relationships from prospecting, closing and renewals
Location: Chicagoland/Hybrid
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the sale of premium, non-programmatic inventory through high-value direct deals and long-term brand relationships
- Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, outbound, pitch development, and relationship management, with a focus on new business development
- Drive revenue by identifying opportunities across agencies, brand marketing, and comms teams
- Leverage market insights and competitive intelligence to prospect and move deals through the pipeline
- Build value through strong agency and blue-chip brand relationships
Requirements and Skills
- 5-7+ years of ad sales experience in digital media, with a strong track record in newsletter and content-driven environments
- Proven success selling ad solutions (Premium, top of funnel sponsorships to diverse client bases)
- Strategic thinker with sharp analytical skills and the ability to turn data into action
- Relationship builder, consultative seller, and adept negotiator
- Self-starter mindset with a bias toward action and ownership
- Team spirited, strong communicator
