Position Summary:
The core responsibilities of the Public Relations & Content Coordinator include assisting with public relations, marketing campaigns, website maintenance and social media. This position plays a key role in developing the strategic marketing plan and evaluating its performance on an annual basis.
Essential Functions
- Maintain a communication/dissemination schedule for all email marketing under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Events.
- Manage all emails, including fundraising, events and regular monthly emails.
- Coordinate with membership manager on membership communications.
- Work with other departments to curate email list.
- Create and curate social media content for all social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube that highlight all areas of the zoo: animal care, the Green Team, AAZK, etc.
- Responsible for working with other departments on website content.
- Monitor social media mentions, etc.
- Manage community displays for the benefit of promoting the zoo.
- Responsible for coordinating volunteers to work displays.
- Maintain staff updates, email to collect updates from other departments and disseminate to all staff on a monthly basis in the form of an all-staff newsletter, in coordination with the zoo’s graphic designer.
- Responsible for taking regular photos/videos to keep online collection up-to-date and usable for media and social media purposes.
- Support marketing team in the implementation of the strategic marketing plan and PR initiatives.
- Work with marketing team on creating and implementing marketing plan – short-term and long-term.
- Supervise and assist intern(s) by providing a well-rounded communications experience.
- Responsible for reporting executive reports on magazine, social media and email marketing ROIs, budget, etc.
Requirements
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in social media for an organization, writing and other public relations tasks. Videography and photos skills are preferred, along with knowledge of graphic design programs, such as Adobe Creative Suite.
