Announcement: Marketing and Development Coordinator Job Opening
The Hillsboro Schools Foundation (HSF) is looking to hire a part-time Marketing and Development Coordinator to help us grow our impact for the K-12 students of the Hillsboro School District. This position is a blended role with emphasis on communication, marketing, donor cultivation and retention. The Marketing and Development Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include consistent communication, outreach and branding with current and prospective donors as well as Hillsboro School District alumni. HSF is a 501c3 nonprofit.
Skills Required: A passion for our mission of cultivating community engagement and funding for innovative programs in the Hillsboro School District. HSF is flourishing and we are looking for someone with a desire to help continue moving the dial. Competent and confident knowledge of Publisher, Canva, Google Docs, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), including mail merges and spreadsheet analysis preferred. Knowledge of donor management system DonorPerfect or other CRM a plus. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, and general self-management skills. Can demonstrate ability to manage independent projects, ability to work independently, under pressure, handling multiple demands on time and resources in a small office environment. There is room to grow in our organization if the applicant has the drive for success.
The Marketing and Development Coordinator will be part of the HSF team which includes a large volunteer working Board who support dynamic staff. Integrity is a must. Accuracy, consistency and follow-through are essential attributes that will be vital to the success in the position. Must be able to lift 25 pounds, ability to stand, walk and sit and have a current driver’s license. Some evenings or Saturday work is required for fundraising events. Flexible 20 hours/week. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
- Create and implement an annual, integrated marketing and digital communications strategy that includes press releases, blogs, two newsletters per year, brochure and flyer updates when needed, website updates, Constant Contact e-news, Facebook, and other digital marketing platforms to drive awareness of the Foundation’s mission. Also includes professionally and creatively crafting a year-end direct letter annual appeal, videos and other internal and external communications.
- Cultivate, solicit, steward, and monitor our portfolio of past major donors and major individual donor prospects.
- Pursue sponsorship opportunities with community partners, corporations, and foundations.
- Assist with fundraising events.
- Support HSF’s volunteer committees, including the Marketing Subcommittee.
- Maintain email and mailing lists for marketing, newsletters and events.
- Professionally maintain donor database systems as donor outreach occurs, including input and tracking of all donor information, communications, and other relevant information.
- Volunteer cultivation including coordination, recruitment, scheduling, and retention.
- Develop and implement planned giving and monthly giving campaigns
- Gather data, stories, photographs, and/or videos for storytelling and impact reporting to donors, in our newsletter, for grant applications, etc.
- Positively represent HSF at a variety of community events.
- Assist with alumni outreach and engagement.

Benefits for part-time include flexible scheduling within operation hours and retirement fund matching contributions. Compensation: $25 - $30 per hour depending on experience.
